MY eye has always favored vernis and epi, but in a wallet, has anyone also loved vernis and epi but chose to go for canvas and are happy about their decision? regret the decision?

I'm thinking of buying an Epi zip around,( hurts a little to spend 905 for it though) so I'm interested in everyone's advise.. Thanks for posting this question...

Well, I went for vernis, despite considering canvas!

The heart won out in the end!! I wanted pomme d'amour zippy wallet, and I got it. But to avoid colour transfer, i have been sitting it in a dust bag. This is slightly annoying me, so I have been hunting for a good purse organizer, or clear zipped bag, which I could fit inside the handbags which would carry the wallet. That's the only con.

But I love that every time I pull it out to use it, I am happy!! Also, I get lots of compliments on the wallet.

I have had my vernis wallet and agenda for over 6 years and there is not one scratch or damage to either piece. I feel both have help up great. I also have monogram wallets which show no wear. I lover vernis over any other wallet design.

wow really??? no peeling, you throw it in your bag without extra care?

I love the look of vernis but I didn't want to be constantly polishing off fingerprints. Epi never appealed to me much. I wanted mono but it was sold out (a couple of years ago) and the SA said it might be months before any came in so I got DE because I wanted it right away.

I have 5 Epi and 3 Vernis bags, I love these two lines. I wanted a Sarah in Vernis but went with Mono Canvas. That was 5 years ago and I am so happy with the decision as my wallet still looks very good, almost new and I have been using it daily for 5 years. It goes with my every bag like Suhali, Vernis, Epi, Mat, Mono, Damier and LEs.

My sister has a Sarah in Vernis and after just 6 monhts, she has lots of color transfers on it.

I want a Vernis soooo bad but can't somehow take the plunge:(
I originally was going to buy the Vernis Pomme Alma over a yr ago but went w/ Alma DE instead. Then Was going to get the Vernis Amarante Alma and left the store W/ Carmine Epi Alma instead which I adore:)

my wallets are:

* vernis: zippy wallet in pomme and zippy coin purse in rose florentine.
* mc: zippy wallet in black, zippy coin purse in white
* mono (no screen printing): zippy organizer, zippy coin purse
* mono macassar: long wallet (comes w/a gorgeous silver chain which i use as a wristlet and in my nf gm)

in my opinion, after lots of usage and generally speaking, the plain mono pieces show the least amount of wear-n-tear but the vernis are prettier.

my vernis pomme zippy wallet does not show fingerprints like some of the darker colors (i.e., amarante), but she does show any impression lines from being pressed up against the edges of my slg's as she moves around in my bag/purse during use/movement. she also does show some chipping along the edges where the zipper is due to being in contact with my trevi pm (small opening of bag). in terms of the pomme color and color transfer, i have not had any of these issues for the fact that i do plan which items i do put in my purse with her. 90% of my items in my bag are lv slg's and most often in plain mono canvas. if anything else, i put a mono canvas item on either side of her to prevent color transfer, or if a hello kitty small bag, the hk item is covered in plastic, so there's no color transfer. HOWEVER, the vernis rose florentine is kept in her dust bag when i use her, because she's such a light color and hence why i wouldn't buy a light color slg, again.

no problems with ANY of my plain mono slg's (wallets, cosmetic pouch, etc).

mc zippy wallet does show wear in the screenprinting. there are chips of color missing. i've used this wallet exclusively for a year straight and bought her in early 2011. my mc zippy coin purse in white is rarely used in de bags due to the prevention of any color transfer of the red cloth lining onto the white canvas. i have used her with the mono bags, and have never had an issue. most often, though, she's used with non-lv bags.

i think one thing that's very important to consider as to when folks have purchased their LV items. i've noticed a quality difference between items i've purchased late last year and items made this year. soooooo sad.....a reality, nonetheless. even though the items made in the all the other lines besides the mono could be argued to be made of better quality materials, i personally believe that the mono lasts the longest and with the least amount of wear-n-tear.

i hope this helps, op. :)

thanks for the food for thought!!!! It's sad that its more expensive but lower quality! I guess I'm trying to figure out what to do... I feel a little uncomfortable with the rayure sarah for me spending so much and I don't enjoy using it as much because I'm so scared of damaging it.... so I was thinking of getting a monogram zippy compact and selling the rayure but its hard because its so beautiful and i love the vernis and the look of the wallet... ::sigh:: I'm going to be a student for a long time so idk if I should keep the rayure until I can use it more carefully or get the monogram zippy compact and be fine with throwing it around.

op; after 3 years with various lv items, i've come to discover that i enjoy more the carefree, no fuss items. i believe the plain canvas (mono, de, da, macassar, graphite) are the perfect everyday bag/items for me, as with the least amount of worry, the more i use the items. i have the vernis alma mm in pomme, pm in amarante and the bb in pomme, and the first two sit in their dust bags way more than they deserve. i do wear the bb a lot, as she's so easy to wear (she's so small that she's totally protected by my body, as i usually wear her crossbody (be aware that i'm 5'7" and the strap is pretty short - more so for use over the shoulder and not crossbody unless more petite)). i love all my mc and vernis pieces but find myself truly enjoying the items that are either the plain mono, macassar (mens), damier graphite (mens) and de. i have denied myself purchasing any of the other lines as i know myself better that i would be frustrated with their more delicate nature and higher maintenance.

if the your piece speaks to your heart and practicality is a far less priority, just use her and enjoy her. i hope this helps. tough to decide, i know.

Mos tof the time I do use the dust protector cover that came with the vernis adgenda. The wallet goes in the inside pocket of most of my purses with nothing else in with it. I never had any problesm, no peeling, fading, marks, ect. I guess I am lucky. I did buy a preloved vernis small shoulder bag for under $200.00. It does have fading on the back but the inside and straps are like new so I am not bothered with it.
