I don't mind them but I wont purchase them. Actually I lied, I bought the limited owl collection from LV as I was obsessed and still is with owls and really want the quirky piece to stay with me so that I can still rock it when I grow old and reach 50 or something. It's not really embodiments but more like studs for the eyes?

Studs on some of the Fendi bags do cheapens the bags, and don't get me started on the new black plain "CD" logo on Dior bags...what happened Dior?!!!

While it's not my style, Jeff Koons X LV master's collection are like art pieces and not something you see everyday.

One thing I've getting tired of seeing are Valentino studs. I was ok with seeing them for the first time 10yrs ago but now they're everywhere, and it's always the same look, Chanel bag, Cartier/tiffany armcandy, Zimmerman paired with Valentino studs...

As a 53 year old, I prefer studs, embroidery, etc.
I wore plain when I was young and coming up to fly under the radar. Now I like “pop”.

Thank you for validating. I dress casual, but for some reason always like dressier bags and think black bags/clothing are too plain (designer or not), perhaps this is "my style" and will continue to be the case when I'm older?

Best advice: go with what you LOVE. If you don’t love it you won’t wear it and it’s money wasted sitting in the closet.
Enjoy your items and you’ll wear them til they fall apart!

Although I prefer plain, small logo if any, bags; I do find some embellishments pretty. What I don’t get is the abundance across brands of monsters, dinosaurs and goofy cartoons. A few trendy bags here and there I can accept, but they are everywhere.

I think I know the brand you are referring to.
Not keen on spending money to look like I’m carrying a kids backpack.

I agree it's gone overboard. I don't mind the odd bit of er.. 'extra' but some are resembling a craft box threw up. I don't mind funky wallets, pouches etc they add a bit of fun to a functional piece but bags i like more classic and able to go the distance... one with eyeballs seem somewhat more limited for the long haul.

Craft box threw up - [emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

That is such a perfect description.

I feel like it is a lot of brands right now. One seems to only have googly eyes for all products, but it feels like a recurring theme. And not just in novelty clutches ala Kate Spade.

Aren't those products essentially for kids? Well, young women.
Although my forty something behind might have a hello kitty product or two.

I might be old-fashioned, but I can't see investing in a bag with mustaches, emojis or whatever the hip new thing is. But something like a small leather good, key ring, pouch or bag charm it seems reasonable. I don't think I would want a smiling poop emoji bag 3 years from now.

This year has been pretty good for my wallet - the fashions are not for me!

It seems like every brand, every bag, at every price has gone all in for embellishment.

Even brands that were generally pretty plain have added puffs, fur, studs, rivets, embroidery, tweed, glitter and all sorts of other busy details.

What’s the deal? What happened to the plainer items?

I agree totally. It has actually helped me explore other brands. To my delight, less expensive, understated brands that I would have never looked at before. In a year or two maybe they’ll come back to more plain, traditional styles. Meanwhile, I’ll save for those and discover new brands. :)

I love Gucci with all my heart...HOWEVER!! Under AM, these embellishments are getting ridiculous. I honestly don't pay much attn to others, but after reading this thread I do recall seeing other designers who are also over the top with these. they need to DEAD this trend like ASAP!
