Anyone shop in Japan recently?

That's why I would rather shop locally because my SA allows me to choose a piece out of the several of the same model. I am very picky. I look at patterns and colours of the stone as well as the craftsmanship. Not all pieces are made equal even for vca pieces so I like to have options when shop locally. It's easier to bring it to the local store for repair and adjustment when needed. I mean I would have hard time asking my SA at my city for repairs or adjustments when I haven't purchased the item in question directly from her.

I do agree with you on this. But the savings is really quite a lot hence i wanted to buy some pieces in Japan. Singapore’s pricing is at least around 20% higher than in Japan. ☹️

I went to the VCA stores in Tokyo and they all did not have sweet hammered necklace or anything hammered. HTH

I am going to Shinjuku today so might just pop in to see. But i am guessing most probably no stocks. 😅

Btw i did see the sweet hammered rose gold bracelet in one of the boutique because the SA took it out for me to try as they were out of vintage alhambra 5-motif ones. But i did see sweet carnelian and mop necklace in 1-2 boutiques but not in Tokyo.

Would appreciate any updates if you see the hammered pieces in stock.

I was there in May and the stock was so depleted because of the tourists & weak yen, so I'm not surprised it's still depleted around the holiday months. I did get offered champagne, water and chocolate though. I scheduled an appointment in advance and exchanged a few texts with the SA via WhatsApp prior to the appointment so I wonder if that make a difference.
Hi! Would you be able to share contact details of your SA? I’m visiting Japan in April hoping to score a few things

Are walk-ins allowed or do you need an appointment? Going in March !
Walk-ins are allowed but sometimes they may ask you to wait. I would highly recommend making an appointment in advance to save more time and have a better overall experience with VCA. By requesting an appointment, you can write down what items you are looking to purchase and any inquiries you have at the inquiry/description box provided when making an online appointment. When your appointment date is close, an SA will reach out to you through email to reconfirm your visit and recheck inventory for you prior to your visit. However, they are not allowed to hold any items for you in accordance with VCA Japan’s new policy. Best of luck for your VCA appointment and I hope you have a great time.

Hi! How was your experience in VCA stores in Japan? Did you find what you were looking for?
Hi!

Just chiming in on my experience in Japan back in November 2023. I emailed 3 VCA SAs in Japan (2 in Osaka Shinsaibashi and 1 unsure) prior to my trip and all 3 said that the items I wanted were not in stock or they weren't able to tell me their stock until I visited the store in-person. I was looking for the sweet alhambra earrings (MOP or carnelian), vintage alhambra earrings in malachite, and the small perlee ring in rose gold.

When I was in Japan, I visited the VCA store in Kobe (Daimaru) at ~1pm on a Sunday and they didn't have any of the items I was looking for, but they did have the sweet butterfly earrings in MOP. When I visited the Osaka Shinsaibashi store the same day ~3pm, the SA originally said that they did not have any sweet alhambra earrings in stock, but they did have the malachite vintage alhambra earrings in stock. After trying on the malachite vintage earrings, I decided that the size was larger than I would have liked so I decided not to get it. After talking more to the SA, she said that she will check her stock again for the sweet alhambra earrings and she was able to find one in MOP!! She said that one pair came in that morning and I was lucky to score the item! She mentioned that she has not seen any carnelian sweet alhambra earrings at the store in the past year. The store did not have the small perlee ring in rose gold, but they did have the medium perlee ring in rose gold in stock. I would highly encourage you to visit the stores and ask in-person since their stock changes daily depending on when they get shipments.

ps- I was able to get the small perlee ring in rose gold in Taiwan (Taipei 101 store) so it worked out!

Thank you for sharing! I’m on the hunt for the hammered yellow gold vintage Alhambra bracelet but heard that they are super hard to find!

When you schedule the appointment on the VCA website they'll assign a SA who speak your preferred language to reach out via WhatsApp in advance and potentially put aside a few pieces for the appointment if they happen to be in stock. The SA who assisted me was just a randomly assignment, not someone I work with regularly to help track down hard to find or popular pieces.

Hi, were you able to find the items you were looking for? And, how was the overall stock? Thanks

I've asked for a few pieces in advance and none were available at the appointment. Granted, I was there in April, considering the weak yen and lots of tourists flooded there for the cherry blossoms, the stock was severely depleted. However, the SA was able to help me track down a pair of the VA malachite earrings that I asked for a day before I leave Japan, but I passed on them as I wasn't crazy about the pattern of the particular pair.
