Oh yay! I've been poking around her site and the diamonds are TDF! Hmmmm... I might go ahead and wait for a piece from EricaD. The antique diamonds just seem more "me." Some of the larger stones are tad bit expensive, so I might layer 2 smaller stones ;) Arg. It's always bad when jewelry calls to the history nerd in me. GAH! Why must I be so geeky?

If you were to go to NYC and go to the diamond district, a G/VS stone of that size (.35) would probably cost you about $300. Add $100 for setting and small chain.

SO, given that you do not have access to NYC (I assume), $500 is a fair price.

Anyone who can give you a well cut stone with similar characteristics for $500 or less, is doing o.k. by you.

Remember, too. Given the economy, YMMV. You may luck out and find it for less!

Good luck!

Ugh. Yeah, I really don't like the setting costs (near $350-$375!) that they're charging. I might just buy the diamond online and then head to my local jewelry repair shop to get it set if the online store can't beat my jeweler's quote. I think I have a place in mind that should be able to do it for a lot less. Besides, it's not like I'm using that much gold either, it's only going to be 16"!
