Anyone ever sold their gold online?

So, would trying to find someone local be better? I would have the item weight before hand...that way I'd know, just incase.

Would at least try local. They'll usually weigh it & show you know much is there.

I really appreciate your input Vegas but I spoke to a member on here who had a great experience with the company I'm using so I'm going for it. I feel good about my decision and that I'm not loosing a bunch of money by deciding to stay local.

Well I think I actually decided to use USGoldBuyers. I got estimates locally and none were as high as them and the refiners won't work with the public so that's out. I have family in the pawn business and they even quoted me significantly lower also. I'm gonna go for a leap of faith especially since Lorretta had a good experience with them. Wish me luck!

I have sold via USGoldBuyers too and was pleased. They have a location here in NYC where yoiu can go in person, but you get the same price if you mail jewlery in.

I sold my gold to JTV and got a reasonable deal.

I think I may dig out all of those broken bits and single earrings in my jewelry box.

So just to follow-up I don't have my check yet but it is supposedly in the mail. I did get less than I thought I would from USGoldBuyers but probably more than others were paying. What happened is that they said when they ran my stuff under the radar spectrometer it came up at less than 14 karat gold, closer to 12 karat so they had to pay me accordingly. I do believe them and don't think they were trying to pull something. So I told them to go ahead and send the check.

Selling gold online is sort of a sketchy practice. There are people out there that will take your gold and run, and there are other honest individuals who will buy it. I suppose it really is like any other online deal that happens. Just be sure to sell it to a credible source.
