Anyone ever been here? Diamond studs or Hold out for an Upgrade?

I was thinking the same thing!!
Honestly, I wear nice CZs in my ears because I feel like earrings are too easy to lose, but the ring needs to be diamonds because that's what I see every time I look at my hands.
+1 and no one will ever know that they are cz's, half the time people will think real diamonds in you ear that are over a carat on each year are cz's anyway. Sorry but its true.... I have real 2 carat total weight studs and people ask if they are real all the time . So it doesn't even matter

I would go with an upgraded ring and get good CZs (or maybe moissanite) for earrings. But it also depends on what size/style your ring is, what you would like to upgrade to, etc. In general, I would rather have a bigger ring and CZ studs. Studs are easy to lose, don't get seen as much, and a lot of people might assume they're fake anyway (I probably would, as where I'm from people don't spend much on jewlery).

I agree with others - put the money into the ring first, you can upgrade the studs at a later date and in the meantime perhaps get a pair of quality CZs in the size you have in mind

I'm sentimental and the notion of upgrading an ering isn't something I would consider (although my husband did very well with mine so easy for me to say) so my vote is for the earrings.
It seems that you are more ready for the earrings vs the upgrade since you haven't decided what to upgrade to just yet.
I'm not sure I agree with the notion that people will assume anything over a carat is fake (ear studs) at least I hope not.
That said, cz's are a way for you to have the look for less...right now, should you decide to go with the ring upgrade.

I would put my money on the ring, so I can appreciate the diamond easily, rather than only when I look in the mirror. Although I'm not a diamond studs fan, they look gorgeous on some other folks. I've had several people who wear studs tell me they wish they'd stuck with their smaller studs because they're so much more sparkly than he larger ones, and I agree.

I'm probably a little older than you (62) so here's an opinion from a "Boomer who has been there,
done that, and bought the T-Shirt." For what it's worth: Bigger is not always better. Don't worry
about what your friends think/want/have. Make your decisions on what YOU need or want.

Earrings are so easy to lose and believe me, you'll lose a few between now and age 62, so buy a good pair of CZ's, set in the size and gold of your choice and enjoy. Also, consider a set of pearl studs. Yes, I know - pearls? But believe me, with a set of diamond studs, a set of pearl studs and
a pair of good gold hoops, you can throw a pair of jeans, a great white shirt, a black t-shirt, a white t-shirt, a colorful scarf, and a cashmere sweater into an overnight bag and you're set to go for a weekend. Simplify your STYLE now and enjoy a great LIFE style without angst, worry, or hassle and be ready for a spur of the moment trip, opportunity or whatever at a moment's notice.

As for your engagement ring - you'll change your mind alot on that as well. Styles come and go and as your taste changes you'll want to change not just the size of your diamond, but the style/design of your ring as well. What's worked for me: Basic Tiffany solitaire setting. As the years and anniversaries have come and gone, My Honey has presented me with various anniversary bands and eternity rings set in various designs and with varied and different stones. This allows me to match my choice of ring with my outfit, occasion, whim and waterweight with an assortment of rings - with or without my engagement ring or my wedding band. Some days just my simple wedding band or maybe an elegant diamond band or a stacked mix of sapphires and diamond bands. My simple, but elegant solitaire looks and works so well with any of these rings and this system works so well with my life and my life style. It's fun, easy and NEVER boring. Plus, Honey is never at a loss when it comes to buying a present for an occasion. Works for me and as he says, it makes it easy for him.

Just my 2 cents.

This is such great advice!

I agree with you on this. On me at least I think people would think they were fake.
With smaller studs I think they assume they are real.

It's true! People will assume they are fake unless they ask you or you advertise that they are real(which is bad taste!) I love the post above from the 62 year young lady, So true. She's very smart, listen to her. Hubby has given a me a past present future diamond ring for our 5 year anniversary, he has also given me a sapphire and diamond anniversary band. I always switch out theses 2 rings depending on my outfit/ mood. Etc...I always wear my engagement/wedding rings on one hand and switch out the rings on the other!
