I’m just wondering how many other people have been consistently happy with their LV purchases?
Based on what I read daily about the lack of quality control and people having to return items due to flaws, I’ve spent the last few years just waiting for something similar to happen to myself… but it hasn’t yet! Since 2018 I’ve purchased a number of SLGs, a speedy 35, two favorites, a neverfull gm, key ring, etc, all but the neverfull were purchased from LV online, (the neverfull from a boutique), I’ve purchased from two different countries, have had an item hot stamped, and I have been very, very happy with every single piece. No flaws, no misalignment, no dodgy stitching. Am I unbelievably lucky, or is this more common than I think and I’m just seeing all of the horror stories on Purse Forum??

It’s like reviews for hotels etc. I’ve booked many vacations and overnight stays in the past and then panicked after reading several terrible reviews. I think people are less likely to post or speak about anything if it’s been a positive experience. We only tend to want to talk about it when there’s a problem. That’s been my experience, at least. I have generally been very lucky when it comes to LV, but I have definitely noticed a general difference in quality with new items compared with older pieces. I’ve never had wonky stitching or mismatched hardware or similar, but I don’t think it can be denied that the hardware they used to use was far superior quality and in many cases, so was the canvas. I’m guessing with regards to specific flaws with items, these are outnumbered by items with no flaws so to speak. You’re just reading about all the bad experiences here on tPF.

There have been some pieces/collections in particular which have had a lot of problems, though. The Christmas silkscreened items from last year, for instance. In just about every photo I saw, the items had shockingly poor stitching. Some people were unhappy with it, others didn’t seem to mind. I think it’s too much of a coincidence that these were all of poor quality, definitely seemed like they were rushing them out and quality control was being completely overlooked.

Agree. The only issues I’ve had were with two most recent purchases. The leather tag on one of my MPA pouches is slightly off center, but not enough for me to return. And the empreinte double zip pochette I got this week had some seriously wonky piping (you can see it in the DZP club thread). I returned it, ordered another and it was fine. I did also once get an SLG with a popped stitch, item was easily exchanged.

I think some folks expect perfection bc of the prices but Imho that’s unreasonable. On the other hand, I’ve seen some very poor QA in recent years…not acceptable from any brand, but especially luxury.

My issue is the prices. Yes, we’re paying the luxury premium but some items are getting upwards of off the charts. This is a trend with most luxury brands. It just doesn’t feel worth it anymore.

I just looked at my LV order history, and I’ve placed 21 orders since May 2019. Out of those there was only 1 item I sent back, and it was a DA cardholder where they accidentally dripped the blue glazing onto the front of the DA canvas, and it wasn’t going to come off. Other than that I’ve been totally fine with my purchases.

Most pieces are perfect and that’s the truth. Handmade products will vary slightly and yes there are defects time and again, but well over 99% of products leaving the store have zero issues. Some people just need to lighten up, put away the magnifying glass and enjoy their pieces!

Unfortunately they’re not handmade. I’ve never personally had issues (except with one defective item and with one very poor hot stamp, both of which were resolved) but I wouldn’t be happy to receive some of the items I’ve seen other people receiving, and can totally understand the disappointment. Some of the goods I’ve seen posted here I wouldn’t have accepted at full price from H&M.

It's been 60/40 for me. My zippy wallet and toiletry bag were perfect. My first damier neo noe was misaligned so I returned for another one which was perfect. I also order the gray graphite key pouch and the zipper was literally stuck and would not open.

I've bought 9 pieces since 2018, and I've only had to replace 1. A card slot started splitting on my Recto Verso card holder. I only had it a week and I never forced any cards in it. My new one has not had any issues.

There's minor imperfections on a couple pieces but nothing that interferes with the use of them. Some examples: My Keepall leather handles aren't smooth all the way across (like the ends).

My Sarah wallet started getting loose stitching over time, but I use it a lot too. See the top edge of the canvas and the bottom corner of the pink leather.

I feel like the stitching on the one side of my Graceful PM strap is a little messy, but that's being picky. Only pointing it out. I don't mind it really.

My wonderful SA inspects all products to make sure they are perfect before he sends anything.
Sometimes things are damaged in shipping from the warehouse to the store, and they are not sent. (that's not often)
I would say in the last 5+ years if it came from his store to me, I have had zero issues.
Products shipped from other stores that were not packed correctly have about an 80% issue rate.
We are at a near-zero purchase policy from stores that we don't have a relationship with.

I agree with what @Starburst 413 previously said above..people pay exorbitant amount of money and expect perfection. Each artisan that makes the item has a certain skill level and each person has only so much tolerance and acceptance before they say if this is or is not worth it.

I've only sent one item back (Coussin PM Cream) because the leather was already flaking off. I've lost count of how many items I've purchased but my rule of thumb is if I didn't notice it the first time, then it's on me. Honestly after a while I don't notice the little imperfections anymore and just enjoy it :flowers:

Makes sense, and that's great service! I've personally inspected 90% of what I've bought before purchasing. The other 10% were shipped to because I couldn't get it in store. The 1 item I had replaced did not have any noticeable defect when I bought it. I even compared two of the same ones. :amuse: I am hoping I've found a consistent SA now and he has done a good job of checking items for me. So far they have all been perfect.

I have consistently had great quality across the board. I feel like I have quite a bit of experience with slgs and bags over the past decade.

The only issue I have ever had was with the glazing on the Curieuse Empreinte wallet from a few years back. I had two, so in one case I exchanged, and the second one was immaculately repaired. They also called me prior to let me know that I should bring my items in as this had become an issue. I hadn't even noticed it yet, but sure enough...the chipping was starting on one of them. The second was repaired preemptively, so I didn't have to wait for it to start having problems.
