So I finally decided to buy some Santorini sandals and wanted to know if I can expect the sole to become rough enough so I don't unintentionally start ice skating or if I should have my cobbler add some rubber soles?

Thanks for your input. I'll try to wear them in on some asphalt in the near future. It is a leather sole which will naturally get more rough after using it (outside the house) a few times. In rain / with moisture it might be a bit slippery at times. Or on very smooth surfaces like polished granite or marble.
I live in my Orans in summer, they get a bit wet occasionally but their do have no slippery feeling at all anymore.
Personally, I never put rubber soles on leather soles as it takes away the nice flexibility and „thin“ feeling of the leather sole. Plus, the rubber soles might come of and peel away.
Thank u so muchSome photos of some old shoes. The black is ~8-10 years old and the tan ~5 years.
The red and black I got redone after wearing for many years.

Good move. It really does prolong the life of your shoes too. My first pair of designer shoes from ~2005 still have perfect soles. They would have more life in them if I still reached for super high heels, but I don't!Thanks everyone. Dropped both pairs at a trusted cobbler. I have crappy weak ankles and don’t need to live so dangerously
