i'm old 56. i have never been a picture taker except when my daughter was home. i don't even own a digital camera. but i know what you mean about the pics as i truly enjoy seeing everyone else's. i am technologically challenged and would have a hard time loading them on the computer even if i bought a camera. i hate feeling so dumb.

I just posted this in the other thread about e-rings:

--------------------
Here's mine! It's actually not my original engagement ring, but rather, kind of like a "celebration" ring, which he gave me in 2005 after 4 years of marriage, 2 children, and multiple health issues/surgeries. Yes, my DH is very indulgent! It's a 3.56 AGS0 ideal cut stone H SI1, with 1.17 total carat weight in pear side stones. The setting is by Leon Mege. My ring finger is a size 3.5.

I LOVE the pear sidestones! I never would have thought to put that with the round but I love it. When we got engaged I originally asked for a 3-carat pear-cut with pear sidestones like yours and then for some reason I feel for the round!?! I still think about that pear though! LOL

I want to have my diamond reset with 1 carat each rounds on the side but everyone keeps telling me that if I get bigger sidestones that it will take away from the center. After seeing yours it motivates me. HEE HEE This forum is soooo bad!

Hi ladies,
We are looking to purchase a 3.2 carat ring but my local jeweler has to order it in. Do any of you have any pictures of large rings on your fingers? I'd really like to see how they look... without me going up to a random in the street and saying "my my, thats a big ring, let me see let me see"

What cut of diamond do you dream of? A 3 carat diamond can look totally different depending on if it is round, square, marquise, pear, oval, etc.

Also depends on the quality of the cut. Is it properly proportioned? Also totally affects the sparkle. But it could also be cut to look bigger (which is not proper proportions and will sparkle less).

Have you visited a diamond dealer? In Portland OR, we have a whole downtown building that is just diamond dealers/brokers, cutters and setters. Look in the phone book and call ahead because they don't have an open door policy. But what they do have is a vault of loose diamonds that you can compare side by side. A 3 ct diamond is a big time investment. It's worth it to compare several to each other to see what you like, and what your dollars are going to buy you. There is no bigger thrill than seeing that blue glassine paper unwrap to expose a brilliant diamond! They will either set them in a little tray or on your hand to admire (hand held out straight, fingers flat and together). Gives me chills just thinking about it!!

Good luck and have fun!!

Lisa

Do shop around alot. Find yourself a broker through a recommendation. Many don't have an open door policy (security) cause of the inventory they have on site. After you narrow down your search a great broker will fly in stones for you to look at. They'll let you spend time with the stones, take them into different types of light. It is very exciting!
Sorry I don't know how to post pics. I'm older & computer skills leave alot to be desired. It seems you're interested in seeing stone size compared to finger size. The setting I thinks makes more of a difference than just the stone. To show an extreme, I have a friend that has an 8 ct center stone on a size 5 finger. Its a beautiful ring & she carries it very well.
I have never seen a large stone on a small finger that looked "tacky." or too big.

I agree with the others. We only use a diamond broker (for our big purchases-I get little things from jewelry stores) and they bring the stones to our home. It's a nice shopping experience! Front door service! LOL

sorry i forgot to say:-

I cant decide what cut to be honest, i was originally looking for a round brilliant but now more interested in maybe ascher (sp!).

We must have a broker round here somewhere, it is Fairfield County afterall

Shop, this is a 3.17ct Hearts on Fire.....my ring size is 5.5 :)

Wow, the rings are stunning.
I have a few rings and my largest is a 2 carat round tiffany platinum. I sometimes feel like it is too big of a stone. My sister has a stunning square cut 4+ carat stone. It is so big but stunning. She has a very simple setting and wedding band but you do see a lot of ring. I love looking at rings. Tacori settings are my favorite.
