I'm excited! I'm soon to be the proud wearer of this antique ring. We may have it reset as my SO bought it based on the value we got with the diamond. Maybe the setting is not showing off the diamond. That said, I am falling for the little hearts. Anyway, that aside, I can't wait to have it in my finger!

It's an old mine cut. Centre stone 2.4ct. Colour I VS clarity. In platinum. The side baguettes are about .3.

Congratulations on your ring! I LOVE the setting! It has very pretty details.

Please share more information about the centre stone if you can? Did it come with a GIA certificate?
Would you oblige with a close up photograph of the diamond as if you are looking into the diamond?

No GIA certificate (we are in the UK) and the dealer is well recommended. We will get one though if we have it reset, and we will certainly be getting a second appraisal for insurance purposes.

When I have it back I'll take more pics including the close up face on one you mention. Are you looking out for something in the photo in particular?

All I can tell you at the moment is that the centre stone is 8mm across. It has a high table so very pillowy and cushiony which I like in these old cuts. The diamond is thought to be mined in 1800s and the ring is Edwardian or early 1920s. It's 2.4ct centre. Conservatively graded as I colour (it's quite white when it flashes) and VS clarity.

Thanks too to everyone else who's commented. We chose it on our own (after my SO has done months worth of diamond research), and I was so nervous about him buying it, it means a lot that others think it's nice too.

I would love to see your diamond's facet pattern and its glorious kozibe effect (I can see a bit in one of your side-on pictures). It's nice to know a bit of history about the ring and the diamond. I personally feel it's a great colour and clarity for a diamond from that era!

Please let us see some handshots when you can. Share the bling happiness! :D

If the ring looks this good already, I'm sure it'll be even more amazing after a cleanup. Will definitely check back for your 'after' pictures.

Thank you. I've been reading up on the kozibe effect - it's when the culet can be seen through the front... Is that right?

The only hand shot I have is one taken in rubbishy light when we were at the dealers. I hope it looks ok on my hand when it's sized for me.
