I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to where I can get an antique cushion cut diamond. I am looking for something in the 3-4 carat range in the K and lower color and VS2 and higher clarity. I have been looking around on the web and the price range for such a diamond and the range is 15-20K. Does anyone know where I can read or learn about antique diamonds?

If you want to make a weekend of this, it might be fun to go to New Orleans over a weekend to Royale street. It's a district of antique fine jewelry shops with many rings being at least that size. I would call a few shops like Adler's to coordinate, but they will ship your items tax-free if you are out of state.

^ I actually used to live in New Orleans and used to frequent the shops on royal quite often. They are extrememly overpriced jewels there. Beautiful but extremely overpriced!

a TRUE antique or a new one cut to antique style? A great option for antique STYLE is good old gold's august vintage cushions.

But I second the mention of Jewels by Erica Grace for a real antique.

another oprion is to watch christie´s and sotheby´s sales some pretty antique stones can be found there (yes at very competetive prices when you go to their smaller sales and not the magnificent sales)
but i also say erica seems to know her stuff
ontopic i love antique stones they have a very specific "aura" around them an i love to see that they are getting the attention from collectors that they deserve

I was going to post this. I've seen several stones like what you are talking about over the years. Usually there are sales in Dec & Feb. Maybe one in early fall.

Hello everyone,

I have been lurking for a few months now and decided to join the fun :)

Anywho I would definately recommend Jewels By Erica Grace, Erica was a pleasure to work with!!! I got my 2.14 antique cushion from them and they also did my HW repro setting...... I am completely and utterly in love

I have a 4.2 Old European Cut Diamond ring that we found in the diamond district in New York. Because we don't live there, we did not have to pay tax which was a substantial savings. Browsing in the diamond district is fun and you can find some good deals there. I have also found some of my antique jewelry at local gem shows which tend to have a few estate dealers. I love old cut diamonds. They are so beautiful and unique. Have fun shopping!
