What great finds. I think they're both lovely.
BTW, I have an Omega watch from the late 50s, which was once my mother's and I haven't worn it yet. I was thinking of getting a new band for it. The current band is a black woven material and I think something different will look much better.

Awesome! Do you have an idea of what you want to change it to? I also have a yellow/pinkish gold vintage omega that I've changed the band to yellow gold.
Nothing is better than a great deal like yours 
I like both of them but the Omega if definitely the prettiest and suits your arm best IMO. Btw it is such a sweet sentiment to give the Longines to you mother and I am sure she would love it!
I have absolutely no idea. All I know is it definitely needs a new band (and possibly a good clean too.)
