Am I too picky? Is a Cartier ring supposed to be 100% perfect?

To be upset about #1 & #2 is pointless. It has already happened and there is no point in being upset about it. Besides, how important is that anyway?

However, the misplaced engraving and the out of round shape are something I would ask them to redo.

i sent a love cuff back because it had become loose in the box during shipping and got a big, deep scratch- worse than any scratch i had ever seen in anyone's pictures- i sent it back for a new one and the second time they sent it in a box with a different attachment. so i don't blame you for wanting it fixed if you are not satisfied

Dear you should have taken pictures of how it came to you or ........tape record it, I usually do after reading some of the stuff on tpf.

Packaging is everything and that's more important the what's inside, sometimes. It's like showing up to work at Cartier in your PJ, not appropriate.

Maybe post SA people recommend. Or maybe this post aleady exist! Are you in Cali? My SA is pretty awesome.

I think it's ok to be meticulous about jewelry, those are usually pieces you intend to keep for a while... And that's why you are willing to pay big bucks for it. No justification needed really. You got to redo what's not done right, sometimes it's hard, but always worth the effort.

Good luck and post that e ring so we can drool!

ITA!

And yes do post some pictures of your ring! :)

Cartier made both my e-ring and wedding band years ago. They are perfect. It was a big deal because we traveled to NYC to have a discussion about the ring. Whenever I need to have the prongs tightened, they send it in a Brinks truck..insured. While it is a rather large carat weight (7cts) I assumed this was standard policy.

To receive a ring like that..loose and in a plastic bag/rubber band, etc does not sound like Cartier protocol. While you received the ring, it was not done per your specifications. Do you have a written order/proposal?

Your SA will want for you to be 100% pleased. You noted that he is sweet...please do call and let Cartier know your displeasure. If your local boutique does not ammend the situation to your satisfaction, you should call the NYC location where the work is done.

Good luck with everything and please do let everybody know how things turn out.
