Am I the only one who feels quality does not scale with price? Like whatsoever?

I feel like there is a certain point where quality and price meet and then there are items/brands that don't deliver on one or the other. This is why I don't really buy high end like Chanel or Hermes and LV canvas is the only thing I might purchase from the brand (bags that is, I do own a couple of key holders in canvas and empreinte), the leathers aren't worth it IMO.
Preloved Mulberry I do own but other items are mostly from mid priced contemporary brands.
One of the things I expect from a designer house that sells bags that cost more than 500€ is good repair services. This is where Longchamp has failed, and not only once but twice and this is why I'm giving up on the brand. I'd rather spend my money on Coach, Furla, Coccinelle and Decadent Copenhagen bags and SLG. I feel like I get more bang for my buck from them than I would from most other brands.

Newer trend is cheaper craftsmanship .... I have plenty of now already vintage bags, but they are exquisite quality and better with use, anything newer can’t justify the cost besides Hermes whose SLGs I buy but not bags...MiuMiu, Saint Laurent.....many others are simply sloppy....even $1500+ Goyard fabric tote has leaking handle paint ??? I enjoy oldies very much, Miu Miu buffalo leather, YSL Pilati’s and Tom Ford’s bags

I have been buying luxury brands for over twenty years and I’m almost ready to throw in the towel regarding high-end luxury prices. I bought a few mid-range bags again lately and feel what you’ve been feeling: a sense of dissatisfaction from the price difference. I agree with all of the other posters who have laid it out much better than I have, but to me paying more than 2k for a bag is tiresome and unrewarding. The prices keep getting higher and higher and after a certain point I’d rather use my money on something else. It’s only a bag at the end of the day.

There is a quality/durability difference between some luxury bags and midrange. But not all luxury bags. All of my LVs are 15-25 years old and look amazing. I also have two high end Lancel bags that are amazing in materials and quality- a Dalichic and a lizard L de Lancel. The attention to detail and material is not matched by the Coach, Furla and R Minkoff I have owned from that period or newer. There is no comparison. That said, I bought two YSL Muses- one a medium and the other a Messenger- which sold for $1700-2000. Honestly, there as no quality difference between them and the Coaches and RMs. The same with two Gucci’s I owned.

The only midrange brand that has really durable bags is D&B but they also have a very preppy, clunky, heavy aesthetic and feel. But the quality is there, even if the elevated look is not. I would take their quality over YSL or Gucci any day for a fraction of the price.

The price of a bag is determined by demand, which in the end is subjective and easily manipulated. If people want quality from luxury bags foremost, that’s what manufacturers will give them. If they want cache, design, “lifestyle” foremost, then that’s what they’ll get. We have turned into a disposable society, desiring the next big or new thing, so quality is not as important anymore and has taken a backseat. Manufacturers will still have to give a certain level of quality in order to justify price, but ultimately quality is not the driver. Is a Birkin a high quality bag? Sure. But if it was less exclusive, more easily available and less expensive (so more accessible), would it be as desired? Not by a long shot. Heaven knows the design is nothing extraordinary or groundbreaking. We want it because we are told we can’t have it until we are “worthy” or have “earned” it. 40% or less quality, 60% or more manufactured hype.
