As Purseloco said, there are a lot of preloved ones in excellent condition. Look at The Real Real and Vestiaire Collective if you consider going down this path. I will add that I didn't take the plunge, and agree that there are a lot of other, wonderful bags out there, usually for a lot less. My highest quality bags are Fendi Selleria, and they are also available pre-loved.

Never even considered Hermes (way out of my price range) but I am kind of LOVING the Halzac. Thank you for your suggestion. Now to make some $$$

I agree with Balenciaga city or a Balenciaga in general.

Also:
Fendi by the way
Anything colorblock
MCM

I agree particularly with Fendi by the way -- it is an amazingly useful little bag. The one I got was creme/simple but Fendi has some fun and grungy styles, too, as long as you don't mind buying preowned and potentially the strap separately. Peek-a-boo is also popular for good reason! :) That one would have to be pre-owned for sure to fit the budget though, while by the way fits it brand new as well.

If it has to be fresh, then Balenciaga is as grungy as it gets other than the heavy Proenza Schouler but the resale value on Bals is atrocious, definitely not what I'd suggest for a first-time shopper since the likelihood of not being sure/wanting to resell is much higher when you're first venturing into this. My first luxury bag happened to be one I still love, but I got lucky!
