you could always ask your jeweller to rhodium plate some of the posts of your earrings, its part of the platinum family and very pure,if it works you can always get your jeweller to replace posts and hooks with platinum which in itself is also extremely pure, also you could try bathing your ears with surgical spirits (alcohol in the US?) stings like a *****! But it really does help to kill off any lingering germs and bugs that thrive in hole caused by your earrings!! Also, once you have managed to pour (a tiny bit!) through the hole twist the earring very gently in the hole to reach any lurkers!! and try not to fiddle with them after that as even after washing your hands your fingers can still carry germs that your poor ears will be so sensitive to!!!!Sorry for sounding so obvious but some times when you get so pissed off with a situation, you can overlook something as simple and easy as that, lots of love to your poor ears!!!!

I did pay a visit to the local jeweler. He was very nice. He said all silver jewelry is rhodium plated but that he could try doing a pair ($35 to do this). He had some platinum and 24k earrings...lot of money for tiny hoops (don't remember exactly but over $1,000). For now I seem to be doing OK with 14k hoops and putting ointment from the doctor on earring AM & PM (also sterilizing earrings in alcohol). Next step is I'm going to try a heavier 14k hoop to see if I can stretch the holes so they won't be as likely to close at night when I take earrings out. Don't know if I'll ever be able to wear my silver again but may try having the jeweler rhodium plate one pair. DH also has a product that can coat wires in plastic...may let him try on a pair of earrings I don't really care about (sterling silver). Will share if that works.

mmmm that does seem quite pricey, there is a lady on here who makes jewellery ask her for a little advice on prices, she seems extremley nice and to have a huge amount of integrity so I feel you would get a great reply off her.xxxx

oo, I've just re-checked and shes posted to you on here already(Casto Creations), you could find out how much she charges for a re-rhodium service so you have a comparison.
I have had slightly iffy ears in the past from wearing silver, this sounds incredibly show-off but I really don't mean it like that, since I have had a pair of diamond studs set in 18ct white gold,I have never had upset ears again, and as I like my studs so much I never worn anything else for the last eight years, and y'know what? I do'nt really look at buying other earrings now so they have kind of paid for themselves by saving me spending on lots of other pairs(does that make sense? It does to me cos I know what I'm twittering on about!!! hope you do,but then I'm not that great at explaining myself!!!sorry!!xxx)

I can understand how you could wear diamond studs every day. I have a pair (14k yellow gold) and they do go with everything. I was so used to changing my earrings though. I had turquoise, coral, etc. It's sad for me not to be able to wear them. But for now, I'll try sticking to gold. I saw some Italian two-tone white/yellow gold hoops yesterday for around $85...I figure if I have white gold, then on the days I want to wear a silver bracelet they will go better.

Unfortunately I am allergic to gold (all the way up to 24K), silver and most alloyed mixes. Platinum and Stainless Steel are my only option. Everydayearrings (and that's kind of funny since I rarely wear earrings) are little stainless studs or hoops. I have a couple pairs of platinum earrings though as well for dressing up.
