All gold hardware bag owners, how has the gold metal strap and hardware held up with use over time? How quickly does it change color or tarnish?

I am recently selling my 19 bag which I have owned for 3 years but used less than 5 times. Its been stored flat in the box all the time (I live in dry climate). Can anyone tell me if there is tarnishing on the hardware shown in the photos as I thought that was just how brushed gold HW should look? Many thanks

Hi! I had same thing on my Chanel bag with same gold type and same lock. I haven't used the bag and for couple of years it was in my closet. Weird...

This has not happened to me. I’ve owned a number of GHW Chanel bags. But people have reported that they’ve sometimes had issues with so black HW, and mine has been fine there too. Perhaps it’s the luck of the draw IDK

I'm devastated as I did sell the bag on ebay and their authenticators said there is tarnishing, scratches and scuffs on the hardware so the transaction was cancelled and buyer refunded. I was like that's just the nature of this brushed gold HW which meant to look a bit rough and slightly worn. Shiny gold on the other hand is different I understand. I'm a honest seller and I baby my bags so getting that sort of feedback really upsets me. Maybe it has always been like this since day 1 and I never picked it up.

I don’t see anything wrong with the hardware. It’s aged gold. The buyer likely didn’t know what they were buying.
Thank you. It's not just the buyer, it's the eBay authenticator that thought this was tarnishing and wouldn't release the bag to the buyer until the buyer made a decision to accept or decline and they declined :( I would not want to sell this bag again on eBay.

If the bag has no seal protective sticker on the CC hardware, technically it is used, if you were selling it “new” then I can see why ebay would want to confirm with buyer for the condition especially for the high price; if you were selling it preowned/ used then I consider it’s as described.

Was that one sold NWT for $4,400? Yeah, if that was the bag you sold, I understood why ebay would want to confirm with the buyer, because, 1, it listed NWT, 2, it did not show any of the aged or “discoloration “ of the hardware, the listing shown pictures is like different condition bag of the pictures you shown here.

Hi, I'm selling it as used but I didn't mention any wears on hardware because I genuinely didn't think those were 'wears', more so how it is meant to look.

Understand, and I agree with you, it could be meant to be that look, I had similar aged gold tone hardware on my Chanel bag too, it’s just when come to resale, some buyers may not consider it as “the way should be” , so it does take an extra step and effort to describe items if sell to buyers.

Thanks dear. I couldn't even pass the ebay inspector unfortunately because they think those were wears and scratches. Might have to sell through resellers now :(
