End of November I ordered something in the $125 range. Arrived December 23, but proved to be defective within a few days. Requested return. Seller finally 'accepted proposal' of return for refund several days later, but would not respond to inquiries about return postage. No way to contact AE either, only automated replies even in their 'Live Chat'.
Paid for postage to return on January 6. Package made it to Beijing, then vanished. No tracking since in any system I could find.
AE dispute 'timed out' on February 6 with no delivery and no response from Seller. Refund was issued and it showed up in my account this morning for full purchase price, original shipping and tax.
At this point all I'm out is the return shipping. Was sent via Stamps.com 'global post'. They demand a signature from the recipient (who cannot be contacted) in order to file a claim. Will try to escalate.
If you make future purchases that are defective or the wrong item, I would push for a refund or replacement without sending the item back. I've had a few of these incidents and I have never sent the item back, it is not worth the high international shipping cost. You are lucky you got a refund if there is no proof the seller received the item and the agreement was they would get the item back. If you did not negotiate the seller paying for return shipping during the mediation I doubt you will be reimbursed for return shipping, but worth a try to escalate.
