Does anyone have experience with their jewelry, especially the bangles? I read that they can be adjusted to fit your wrist. What's the largest and smallest that they get? Pictures would be helpful too. TIA!:smile1:

I am so glad you started this thread. I want to get a few of those too so I'd like to hear what others think of them. Also, is the Alex and Ani website the best place to get the bangles in terms of choices and price? Do they offer discount codes from time to time? They charge min. $10 for shipping a few thin bangles, which is a bit high IMHO.

LOVE mine! they're cheap and cute cute cute!

I have thin wrists so I've kind of squeezed me a bit to tighten them up (doesn't work with the beaded ones because the wire is full of beads so it can't get smaller) and that will make them a little smaller, but the key is they're not huge to start with because they expand to put them on. You can tell from the website how they're made a wire that overlaps so you can spread to put on and it slides back together to be smaller. The beaded one I have has a thinner wire but the same concept--it does get larger to slip on if you need it to, but just can't be adjusted smaller since the beads would get in the way of that.

I have a photo that was to show off my watch that also has a few of the bangles (and a sliver james avery bracelet too) The ones pictured are "russian gold" which is like, brass, maybe? It looks like gold but maybe a little darker and the charms hanging off kind of oxidyze a little. . .making them antiqued a bit? (obviously for $12 plain and $21 with charm they're NOT real gold--ha! but it isn't like a gold-plate either it's just a golden-colored bronzy metal of some type. In other words after you play with them your fingers smell a little like metal--know what I mean?)

I only have russian gold ones now but I've ordered a few silver-toned ones to mix in.

I could take photo with all of mine if y'all want but they're all very similar--all the same color (right now) and the one beaded one is gold beads. They have some cute sets for sale on the website, but I just got mine at the bangle bar. (I have one with each of my 3 kids' initials and then a couple more with other dangly charms and several plain ones (even these come with tiny "tag" charms with their name on which makes them cuter than just plain wire).

Greygirl, thanks for your reply! It was actually that pic that got me interested in the bangles. LOL!
Will the bangles get bigger as well? My wrists are not tiny tiny and I want to make sure that they will fit before I order them.

Okay I did an experiment. I had DH put on one--he had to steeeeeaatch it out to get it over his man-hand but it was fine once it was on-not tight at all. and I think the big stretch to put on did stretch it a bit, and I just squeezed it back after he took it off and it's back a little smaller.

I measured the circumference right after he took it off and it was about 8" around. And here's a photo to get an idea of the diameter. You can see at the top of the photo where the wire wraps--each end is a loop that the wire goes through.

Hope this helps
M

^^Wow! Thank you so much for going to all that trouble. It's very helpful. I'm very excited about the bangles. They're so cute and I would love to have a few on my wrist in the near future.

I haven't thought about Alex and Ani in a long, long time. In the 90s, I bought sterling dog tags from the line, whose profits were supposed to go towards AIDS research. Very different from the things I just saw on their web site!

I have several Alex and Ani Bangles (a mix of charms and plain bangles). They were a lot cheaper from Zeeberry.com. In addition, I had a coupon code for buy one, get second half off. I have VERY tiny wrists so had to do quite a bit of manipulating to get them smaller. I actually soaked them in hot water, then molded them to my wrists.

Now the beaded ones are not cheap IMO, $38 a piece and they can't be made much smaller. However, I just bought a couple in person at their Newport RI boutique and the SA removed a couple of beads for me and made them smaller. You can also buy a little jewelery kit from a craft store and do it yourself. I think I have maybe 16 bangles now-they're addictive!
