Air lines / gaps getting worse in VA?

I have ordered in May 6 motif MA necklace with WMOP, GMOP and onyx in YG. I was surprised to see so many gaps in 6 motifs necklace and returned the necklace. I used to have 16 motif MA with WMOP in YG, it was from 2008 and it had only 2 (two) motifs with gaps.
Here are the photos of the 6 motif MA made in 2020, that was ordered from online boutique:

I’m always shocked that this seems to be a recurring issue. Yes, I understand that it is hand carved. However, Van Cleef jewelry is really expensive and should be as close to perfect as possible. The customer is paying for the workmanship and name not the inexpensive material of MOP. The inspectors of these pieces should hold them up to the light before they are sent to the stores.

Hello ladies , can you see these gaps when you wear your pieces ? I am afraid to check my alhambra jewelry under the light I don’t want to see these gaps :annoyed::biggrin:
I never see them when I’m wearing them. If I hold it to the light and concentrate I can see a few small gaps. I’m not gonna look. If they look good to my eyes while on me, good ‘nuff.

I am very impressed by how well you can take photo of your bracelet. Mine is the GMOP pendant and the airlines are quite prominent.

I just recently purchased a brand new GMOP pendant last month in July 2020 and I also see airline gaps on mine as well. Didn't noticed it until highlighted by "beansbeans" in this thread. However, it is not noticeable when I wear it unless I placed it against the lights.

I recently purchased the 10 YG MOP and a 5 motif blue agate bracelets and there are air gaps on every single stone of both. They're small, but definitely there when help up against the light!!!!
What should I do? I love them but wondering if I should exchange it, but the stock is pretty limited as is. M worried that the new ones would have it as well!!! What should I do? please post your opinion. TIA :)

I do have airlines on my GMOP bracelet when held against light. A bit less then you, but still noticeable. Don't know if this is because it is pearl instead of a harder stone.
After reading about this on TPF, I decided to look at my pieces more carefully against light and I also found gaps. I have gaps even in onyx, which is a harder stone. Very disappointed!

If you can't see the gaps when wearing it, I would keep it. The stock is very low and they are having difficulties in getting new pieces from France duo to the lower production during covid.

I went back to the boutique to look at other options and they all had gaps (as in, every single motif of each piece). It may be like that for the foreseable future so if the gaps are not noticeable when worn and everything else is pristine, then it's probably best to keep it. Oh, also, make sure the motifs are secure. If there is too much of a gap and the prongs are not tight, the motif can move and make a rattling sound.

For reference, the pieces I saw recently with the gaps are:
Two 5 motif blue agate bracelets
Three 10 motif blue agate necklaces
Three 10 motif carnelian necklaces
One 5 motif GMOP + pave bracelet (gaps only in the GMOP motifs)

I also have small gaps. Only notice it with a bright light source. As long as they are not to big and not visible without bright light, I would keep them and not worry.

Thank you both so much for taking the time to response. I was thinking of making a trip to another VCA store and check, but you really saved me the time and headache!! You guys are awesome :)

If this still bothers you in a few hours/days, then make a trip to the boutique sooner rather than later to see other options and put your mind at ease. It bugged the heck out of me so I had to go back, twice :) You can offer to wear their disposable gloves so they won't have to quarantine pieces and perhaps be more liberal about showing you more pieces.

Thank you, I made peace with it after your message  You went back twice and still saw gaps on them right? I think I will just try to enjoy it. The 2 pieces that I got were brand new from the plastic so I think I'll just keep them. BTW, did you make any purchase? We might be bracelet twins. Thank you again for your message
