I was wondering what you would do if you realized you had purchased a bag only to find you regretted the hardware color months later. I got a caviar jumbo with ghw from the boutique a few months ago but after using it once, it was clear the gold isn’t really me, therefore I have not worn it since. Opinions? Advice? Part of me feels like I should sell and purchase a preloved one with shw in excellent condition but I know how hard it is to sell off a jumbo for a decent price. Or, look in to finding someone to trade with on a Chanel group but that sounds complex. Tbh, I will likely do nothing except kick myself in the bum .

Don’t be too hard on yourself- perhaps this is a sunk cost fallacy situation. Don’t think about how much money you’ll “lose” selling it— rather, think of it as an upgrade to buy what you really want and will enjoy.
You are simply exercising your personal agency to make the best of the situation. Once you have the one you want, after a year, you’ll barely remember the heartache or the cost. But you will continue to enjoy having the bag you really wanted.

Sometimes, our feelings about bags and hardware color can change.
Before you let go of your jumbo, just be sure of your feelings. Perhaps try wearing it a few times to see if you are sure (since you mentioned you only wore it once). Also, try the jumbo with silver hardware before making a final decision. After all this, if you're still not liking the gold hardware, then it might be time to cut your losses and let it go.

Give it some time and if you still feel that you will not use the GHW bag, why not have the hardware polished to silver? Where I am, there are bag spas that do hardware colour changes quite easily... It will affect the resale (if you plan to sell it), but I am assuming you bought it to wear and enjoy so you could consider this option...

I totally feel your pain as I am silver hardware girl and wouldn't be happy. You might best selling what you have even at a loss to get the bag you really want. Once you have it then it might not feel as painful and you'll soon forget with the joy from the bag you really wanted. Otherwise you will end up buying twice which is far more expensive. Hope you get your dream bag :flowers::heart:

I don't think you can trick your mind on HW preference. Sure, give it time if you can at least imagine a change of heart, but it's something you can't unsee. The vibe is so different between the gold and the silver. I'd sell and move on, and that's just the price you pay. You will have learned to be slower to buy next time.

We all feel your pain, Makolee! I think you know what you must do. Think of it like ripping off a bandaid. Yes, it hurts, but only for a moment. Get what you can for your Jumbo and buy what you know you'll use for many, many years. Life is to too short to be unhappy every time you"see" this mistake in your closet.

Thank you for the great insight everyone! I found it so very helpful and encouraging! Honestly, I think I’ll educate myself more on the trading option but as I’m not exactly a risk taker, I will use it in all its blingy golden glory and try to get used to it for now!

Maybe you are being too critical of gold hardware right now. Both are great colors to own. I have black classic flaps with both hardwares.

Rebag has a Claire trade program. I have never used it but you might get lucky with an almost even trade.
Agreed, I am being too critical! It is definitely stunning and was a no brainer me at the time of purchase. Thank you for the FP tip- I had no idea!

Omg… I feel your pain. I’ve bought the wrong size, color hardware, etc. And I’m very risk averse. So no reselling. Same solution. I just use the bags. (Bought a m/l in silver. Should have bought gold or should have bought jumbo instead)… Well, I use that m/l and I ended up with a few other bags (boy bag, lady Dior) in the size/hardwares that I felt missing. And, honestly, I couldn’t be happier. My bag collection is definitely not minimal but it IS definitely fun. And I couldn’t be happier and I use all of my stuff.
