ADVICE! Quality, Durability, & Value - SLGs - Gucci vs. LV

I have the guccisima full zip wallet. Used daily for 2+ years and still flawless. The signature leather is extremely durable. I used to use a LV zippy wallet in monogram everyday but felt like I was going to destroy it eventually due to the canvases tendency to split, crack or tear with daily use. I've seen some LV in really bad shape due to daily use, shame considering the price point. So I only use it sparingly now. Go with the Gucci.

I have heard some discouraging canvas/glazing problems. LV does offer options (return, exchange, credit), should a problem arise. And they do offer repairs, as well.

But I like my bags/SLGs to be sturdy.
I want to enjoy them, not constantly inspecting for issues.

This thread has helped me decide on exactly the same question. I normally go for LV canvas but lately have wanted a bit of variety, plus I'm not really loving the small LV purses available at the moment - I'm finding them too cutsey with the bon bon colours and coloured leather buttons. That's just not me. So the other day I decided to look into Gucci. Great info here. Thanks OP! (I'd love to know what you get. Please keep us posted!)

Today I bought the Gucci Zip Around card case in dark blue. I love it, it is so beautiful and I love how it feels in my hand. Plus, the smell of leather reminds me of Florence. I like the look of the LV ZCP but would prefer it to be a tiny bit longer. I don't want to struggle getting cards out of tight compartments. So I really like that the Gucci has three slots that are quite roomy. I managed to put 15 folded bills in one side and 4 cards in the other. (There is space for more) A few coins in the middle.

It looks quite sturdy, I'm sure it will last me a long time. I think I'll be first looking into Gucci next time I'm shopping for a bag or SLG.

I would like to make a measured decision (as opposed to being impulsive). [emoji5]

Which brand offers the best in the following:

- Quality
- Durability
- Value

Which SLG in particular would be the better/best buy?

With LV, I worry about potential canvas and/or glazing issues.

With Gucci, I have no firsthand experience with this type of leather ("Signature"). And I have no idea about resell value for Gucci, in general, and for Gucci leather SLGs, in particular. And does Gucci offer repairs (for how long)?

The nearest LV standalone boutiques and department store boutiques are a couple of hours away. So that makes any potential repairs trips not that convenient. (Repair requests have to be done in person, correct?).

We have a Saks with an LV boutique in town.

I would like to make the purchase soon. I appreciate everyone's help!

I know this is an old thread, but, in case anyone new looks at it, I have a Gucci SLG. Like you said, it's beautiful and hard-wearing. I don't worry about it at all. I have a review on my YouTube channel about it (), but, overall, I think it's gorgeous.

Then again, maybe I'm biased. I'm a Gucci girl at heart, because that's all my mom ever bought!
