Well, older European men have carried "male" purses for years. And one of my boyfriends from years ago, when I was betwen husbands, had a leather shoulderbag I liked so much that I made a pattern for the design and constructed one for myself (in the days when I could still put my own handbag together from scratch).

i think its quite neat that you'd like to carry a purse around! :amuse: i mean, it might not go down well in some places but i think if you find the right one you'll be alright  i know LV do great bags for everyone... maybe you could look into getting some in monogram or diamers - they're great LV patterns!!!

good luck and please feel free to be who you want in this forum - we're not out to get anyone but BAGS BAGS BAGS!!!

My question to you all, is, what do you think about a guy wearing a purse? Not some ugly 'man-bag', but say a Coach Signature Hobo?
What would you say about a guy carrying a DB wristlet at the gas station?

I know, you're probably going to think I'm queer anyway, or say that you think it's stupid, but I need some real feedback. As wonderous as the internet is, I can't seem to find ANYTHING written directly related to my problem. So, go ahead, give me your worst.

Honestly, I would giggle to myself about how cute a gay man carrying a handbag.
No big deal to me and move on, but I truly would assume you're gay if I saw you hanging around my fave shopping area toting a purse.
Even a wapity. Sorry, probably not the opinion you're longing for, but it's my truth. There's certainly worse things you could be caught carrying though, right?!
Would I laugh AT you or think anything negative? No way! But the truth is 99% of hetero men aren't interested in carrying handbags.

I have a good internet friend that is a married straight man, but happens to like to wear ball gowns. I'm NOT kidding, and he's TOTALLY adorable! He tells stories of changing light bulbs in them, vacuuming, etc. . . .

I don't think anyone here can give your "their worst" for the most part we're a pretty tolerant bunch I think, as long as we're not talking about violence or fakes! LOL!
We have priorities ya know!

I think you should use what you feel comfortable with. If you feel comfortable carrying something nothing else should matter!
How do you feel about Prada? They have a lot of things that guys and girls could both wear with no looks...
Welcome to this place...it's like a purse haven!!!

Welcome and I'm glad you've found this place! It's addicting so watch out!! :amuse: I would have a hard time wrapping my head around a hot guy strutting around w/ a purse. However, a wristlet might be a better option if you needed something to carry things in, or get a small accessory in the damier canvas line. Anything in that line is TDF!

Rock out what you love :D Screw what other people think, I for one would find it sexy as hell if I met a perfectly straight guy who shared my love of purses. Even better if we could share collections

It's fab that guys are going for purses, since they're so useful and the such. And there are just so many things that are necessities, that no one can possibly have pockets that big (who is really going to put an ipod, a pda, a cell phone AND their wallet and keychain into their jeans?!). With that being said, I think there is still a stigma in North America concerning purse wearing men. Certain types of manbags seem to be more acceptable - I personally think that a guy carrying something like the Pochette Gange (http://www2.odn.ne.jp/grazie30/inv2301/lv.m51870n2301.1.jpg
) is pretty hot, and also understated which may be a big necessary since it's not always totally acceptable.

I'm unsure of what I'd think about a guy carrying a Birkin, but I wouldn't think it odd if he collected handbags because he admired their craftsmanship. My grandfather used to make purses for my grandmother out of crocodile and other leathers during the depression because they were too thrifty to spend money, and I'm pretty sure he had carefully examined a lot of handbags before he started sewing.

as long as you are happy do what you want...

that's why life sucks sometimes because we think we need to fit into this "mold" but it'll never happen...

be yourself, stay true to yourself, and who gives a ---- what other people think.

i can't lie and say I wouldn't comment at seeing a man w/a purse...an abbesses or something from the damier geant line is one thing, but if I see a dude walking around w/a popincourt haut, it's just natural to question...but hey...do YOU.

Go for it! Look into the history of purses and you will find that purses were created for men and carried ONLY by men for hundreds of years! Purses for women came into being much, much later! Scottish men fully decked out carry a sporran -- What would you call that but a purse (of a type)? Certain doesn't hurt their masculine image, and they're wearing something that is a kissing cousin to a skirt. Yummy!
