ADVICE/OPINION NEEDED: Worth the invest? Very used bag.

don’t get me wrong but I am shocked you are considering this - please research more, so you can assess the condition of a bag more. I don’t say this in a mean way I say this so you safe yourself a bad deal.

To me this is like looking at a car that’s been in a car crash, all deformed, and someone is asking “hey, I just learned how to drive, is this a good deal, it’s cheap?”

The reason being:
This has not Been touched up this has been extremely poorly recoloured entirely. You can see the real colour showing on the corners.

The wrong paint was used, lacquer paint, which isn’t absorbed into the leather but seals the leather pores and sits on top of it. This is why it cracks and chips and is so shiny.

If this was 100€ you could get it and have it stripped from all the bad paint, heavy condition it and hope for some sort of wearable outcome.

2 grand is way way too much!

I'd pass too, I've been researching how bag spas refresh these kinds of bags and it seems like they just put a coating of paint over which is not good for long-term investment. It would change the feel and look of the bag.

Thank you for your replies.
I was coming to the point that I was obly thinking about it because its a Chanel.
The money would have been wasted... and I'd rather buy a new one from another house...

BTW its actually sold now.

I am  . Train-wreck alert!

Sometimes they take off the market for a while to force a regret-pass ("if it returns, please let me know" etc). Or, they may have sent it to a handbag clinic themselves. Do not waste a sec thinking about this sad example.

I have have never seen such an after-market (bad) job done on a Chanel, I am heartbroken for that poor bag. I have a Chanel from before Chanel died and it looks better.

Oh wow a vintage. Probably the best quality

Wonder what happened to the bag to end up like this

Materials are very fine quality and noticeably so, but fine doesn't always mean durable, and that's why we have to look after these beauties - not just because they cost a lot.

Whoever painted this bag with what looks like tip-ex should be punished for CCAC (Crimes Committed Against Chanel). Thank goodness it's not your problem.

This threads been dormant for a while but hoping to get some feedback and responses here :)

I’m currently pending authentication from Zeko a preloved 2011 black lambskin medium classic flap. It’s in good used condition with signs of use but not major.

That said, I just asked my local Chanel boutique in Vancouver, Canada how much it would be for a “spa” trip for a black lambskin classic flap and was quoted a whopping CAD 940 before taxes. So it’s approximately CAD 1050, which is roughly USD 785.

The Sales Associate also told me it was only the leather that would be treated and nothing else. If any additional work was needed it would be shipped to Paris with an additional quoted charge.

I would try Leather Surgeons but I’m nervous about customs trying to levy duties on what is clearly not a new bag.

I’m conflicted on what to do because after seeing it in person, I know I want to spa it. What do you all think? All in it will end up costing me CAD 5000/USD 3700.

I have some photos but I think the photos look better than in-person. You have to zoom up to see the signs of wear which are hard to see due to it being black. It looks a little lighter slightly faded black in real life and the wrinkling is just at the bottom.

What do you ladies think?

First congratulations in finding a handbag you like for a great price. Personally, if I ever were to get a preloved handbag like this, I know I would Do a spa treatment, two authentications and whatever I think the handbag needs. If you are not ok with they way it is now, you will probably never would be. So IMHO it’s better to start with a handbag that makes you happy than regretting later your purchase. GLD

What about Luxedujour Canada!? They spa Chanel bags, I would see who can do it locally, rather than shipping off to another country.
