advice on buying amethysts?

Here is a picture of my earrings. Their vintage. I don't know how much they cost, or worth, I just love the color of the stones.

I asked today about the color. The jewelry specialist called them baby amethysts, or rose de France. They work with my coloring. I love those deep violet tones too but they are too dark for me and would get lost in my hair.
