I will be going to Atlanta with my hubby on a business trip and I wanted to purchase my next purse while I was there. I am selling off quite a few of my old purses to get this next big ticket item so I want to be sure! I was thinking of possibly getting the Gucci Swing Tote or the Louis Vuitton Neverfull PM. I know this is a gucci thread but I though all of you could help me. Let me know what you think. If you own either give me their pros and cons. Thanks!! :D

I'm assuming you are talking 'canvas' neverfull in mono? There is your answer right there. Its not a hard decision for me - A beautiful leather tote that is feminine and city chic in some gorgeous striking colours - or a brown plastic bag with yellow letters all over it that is seen everywhere…. Well you did post in the Gucci thread, but I still would have said the same if I saw this in the LV thread:laugh:

Lol vinbenphon1 that's a great way to put it. And the leather looks so good on the swing tote. Your honesty is much appreciated! I don't have the money to go out and buy this kind of stuff on a whim so I just have to be sure lol

I'm not sure if your considering the mono neverfull or the damier ebene. I own quite a few louis vuittons and just bought my first gucci leather bag a few months ago. I was a louis addict I must say and I do still love the brand.... That being said, my gucci Emily tote is my absolute favorite bag. It is just very classy to me and sophisticated. Now, I'm not saying louis is NOT classy or sophisticated because I still LOVE my LV bags and wear them all the time. However, I have a love/hate relationship with my LVs. My damier ebene bags I have had issues with cracking leather. And I love the look of patina on the LVs but the beginning of keeping the vachetta clean to have an even patina is a pain in the you know what. But if you have the patience to baby your bag and not wear it in the rain it is well worth it in the end. Unless you're going for the leather neverfull, then, you have a rough decision. Both bags are beautiful but the leather neverfull is twice the price of the gucci swing tote. When I went to the gucci store to get my Emily I felt the gucci swing and I must say it is an outstanding quality bag. Feels very sturdy and is beautiful. sorry for that long rant! Just wanted to give my two cents, I know how it is when trying to decide on these big purchases! Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I am certainly biased towards Gucci, but I absolutely love the look of the Swing Tote. The bright colors and the shape, I just love everything about it. Please let us know what you decide and I would love to see pics as well.

Thank you bama_gucci and bagaddiction712 for your input!! And bagaddiction712 do not apologize at all for your explanation and I am so thankful for everything you said! Unfortunately, I would probably be using the neverfull daily so baby-ing it would not be an easy thing for me to do. I love louis so much but honestly I just can't afford much more than the neverfull (and btw I was looking at the damier ebene). It's good to know that the swing tote looks and feels great (I have yet to hold it yet).

And bama_gucci when/if I get my bag I will for sure post it!! It will probably be around mid-June :)

I have one of the bigger Neverfull from LV in Damier. I really like it, but it gets really heavy to carry and the handles can hurt quite a bit because of that. If I could re-do my purchase I probably would have bought a smaller model, or looked at something else. :)

gail13 you're right. It's not something you see everywhere. Especially my neck of the woods LOL.
LaPetiteDenoise--what would you have gone with if you had a do-over? Oh and thanks for the honesty about your LV bag :)

Hi Collinsgirl… was in Gucci today and had a little play with the Swing Tote… Very nice, I must say. Sits quite nicely, I actually think the handle drop is slightly longer than the LV neverfull pm of which I found to be a very tight fit on my shoulder. And the colours are so vibrant and the leather is gorgeous and well structured. If I wasn't in need of a bag with a zipper (which I picked up today), this tote would be on my list.

I also have a great collection of LVs but with the recent price increases, I'd rather spend my dollar elsewhere. That being said, I have a Damier Ebene NF and it can get quite heavy depending on what you put in it. I saw the Swing tote at the boutique this week and if I had to chose, I'd go with Gucci. The Ebene straps crack (mine did) and the Gucci leather is absolutely beautiful.

Luvdabags---if you could do it over, what would you get now? The swing tote? Or is there another designer/bag that you would choose?

Wow, no contest for me, especially since the colours of the Swing are so beautiful, again the only thing I don't like it the writing on the outside as there are def parts of this World I don't want to advertise I am carrying an expensive bag (but hey, I know I am so much in the minority about that). Still I think you get 'a lot of bag for you buck'

I'm adding the swing tote to my future purchases list but it will have to wait until next year. I love my Damier NF but if I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased something else.
