Hi everyone! I am a longtime lurker and first time poster in the jewelry thread (love love love to drool over everyone's jewels!). I could really use some of your advice.

I am obsessed with sapphires lately (my son's birthstone) I have been looking at a particular ring on Blue Nile's website for quite a while, it's this one http://www.bluenile.com/sapphire-diamond-wedding-ring_7821
the sapphire and diamond garland wedding ring. Of course, there is this one
http://www.bluenile.com/sapphire-diamond-eternity-ring_8573?track=si
which is the eternity version of the first ring. (The ring would be worn on my right hand ring finger.)

I don't have a lot of jewelry but I love antique style and classic pieces--I have my antique style wedding set--the center stone is a modest .62 or so diamond. I also wear my diamond studs and a diamond pendant every day. Frankly, although I am leaning towards the eternity band, I think to myself, "I could upgrade the diamond in my wedding set for this money!"

What should I do?! Should I stop being so cheap and invest the money in the eternity band? Save some money and buy the wedding band? Or scrap the whole thing and use the money towards a diamond upgrade on my wedding set?

Thanks in advance ladies!!

Hi, nothing is coming up , even when I copy and paste your link. There are a few band that have sapphire and diamond. Are you talking of the prong or the channel set design?
I always think what I could be upgrading too when I buy new jewelry. I just got sized for my "wedding ring". I am wearing a Roberto coin pave band as my wedding ring, but I am getting a larger eternity band. If I didn't get these bands and the Cartier I am about to buy, I could have a fab upgrade. It isn't that important to me know I guess.
I would get the eternity band and upgrade later. For me it takes forever to choose a diamond and getting a new ring will make you so happy. I hope you can post the right links. I love sapphire and diamond too!

Yea I can't get it to load either, can you post pics?

The only downside to going eternity is 1) not being able to resize the ring up or down and 2) risk of damage.

ETA: thanks for the pics.

The style LOOKS better in eternity.

Personally I think thats a lot to spend on a sapphire ring. I think I'd look for something in white gold like:
http://www.diamondharmony.com/women/rings/stackables/gemstone/14k_white_gold_blue_sapphire_12_carat_diamond_stackable_ring/pid/53/11?gdftrk=gdfV2755_a_7c880_a_7c3543_a_7cRG3000B
but on the same token I don't know if I would compare it to an upgrade. Do you want an upgrade? If you've been thinking about an upgrade and are in the position to do so, then maybe you should go that route. If you just thought of an upgrade as another place you could spend the $$, then I wouldn't focus on that much. Get what makes you happiest.

They are both lovely, but I would probably go with the first one for comfort. Sometimes eternity bands that are not channel set bother me between my fingers.

I think it is a fair price. It is not easy to color match that many sapphires and I don't believe that diamonds are THE supreme stone. LOL...

I know not everyone loves them but I personally think half-eternity rings are SO much more comfortable than full eternity rings.

Have you thought about just getting the half?

If you want to upgrade your ring badly, I'd do that first.

skphoto thank you for that link! I love the baguette sapphires on the ring in that link!

Thanks everyone for the feedback! It's ironic, I actually do have a right hand ring that was custom made that is eternity style and unfortunately one of the stones just broke--it's being replaced now. It's the first time a piece of my jewelry has been damaged and it's not something I wore often either!

I think the Blue Nile ring looks better in the eternity style BUT my concern is comfort and the obvious sizing issue.

I just had a discussion with DH and he wants to upgrade my diamond on our 10 year anniversary! So now that's off the table, I can focus on a sapphire ring! :p

I am leaning towards the first ring! So dainty and elegant!

I am not a fan of eternity, I got a half band of yellow and white from BN and it has been a great choice for me. I would hate to never see the stones on the underside, and I'm so rough with my hands and jewelry from my work that would also concern me.
