Just venting, I bought what I thought was a great deal on UGG gloves on Ebay, like 40% of retail price, and I thought I was so smart. Then the gloves arrived today and they are not what I expected. I think they are fakes or something is just wrong. They are a little dirty, they don't feel quite right.

They are going back, it is all OK. I will purchase another pair direct from UGG or Nordstrom or something, but I am sad!

I have not bought much for luxury items and I think I was sheltered about the possibility of getting fake gloves. This is a learning experience!

Hope I'm not in the wrong place to post, thank you for letting me get it out here.

I've never bought Ugg gloves but I can tell you that the quality of the boots has gone downhill over the last few years. I ordered some UGGs boots last Christmas from Nordstrom. The fur doesn't feel real and isn't as soft and cushy as my older UGGs. When I asked at the UGGs store, I was told all the newer items are made of this kind of fur.

I agree with Whateve about the quality of their items so your issue could just be a quality issue rather than an authenticity one.

As for the gloves, you may be unhappy with the quality but before accusing the seller, I'd suggest you post the listing for authentication first. I've been seeing uggs gloves and mittens at the discounters (Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack) and as such, have seen them being resold on ebay.

I would suggest posting here:

ETA: Ugg Australia has been making a (slightly) less expensive line called I(heart)Uggs and rather than shearling, these items are lined with wool fleece. The gloves I've seen are shearling but wanted to mention this anyway.

Thanks for the advice, I've already packaged up the items to return to the seller, and they said they would take a return. I'm out about $10 total for shipping, which sucks. The seller's feedback was nearly all from purchases and not selling and I'm an idiot not to have checked. I just want it over. Blah!

Good point not to accuse the seller. I will leave feedback that says basically that what I received was not the quality of item I had hoped for.

I was in Las Vegas recently and fell in love with a pair at an Ugg store. They were dreamy. These gloves felt like they were sewn in layers with padding and they were just strange / weird / wrong.

I am glad the seller is taking them back. I was going to pursue with paypal as counterfeit but I will let it drop and move on.

IMO, that's the not a fair feedback. Feedback should reflect your transaction with the seller, i.e., shipping, packing, communication, etc. The seller has agreed to the return so I'm not sure what else you expect of her.

Since you didn't post the listing nor authenticate the item, it's wrong to assume they're fake. (Although they might well be fake, you don't know that, at least not yet.)

The seller isn't the manufacturer and to fault a seller in her feedback about the quality isn't fair since it's not something she has control of.

In this case, no feedback is preferable to the type of comment you want to make.

I understand that you're unhappy about paying return shipping but unless and until you determine whether they're actually SNAD or just "not what you expected," the return is buyer's remorse rather than SNAD and return postage is on the buyer.

Again, alleging an item as counterfeit without proof is wrong. I'm glad the seller has agreed to the return too.

OK, I understand that I do not know 100% that they are counterfeit. That is OK. I do know that the gloves have dirty spots that were not shown in the photos. Should I even mention that? I don't care that much, I *know* that something is different about these gloves than the ones I saw at the UGG store in Las Vegas, and I am happy to receive a refund and I will track down a pair in person that works for me.

This is not buyer's remorse! There is something not right about the product I received. There is a stated return policy and so I will use it and that is good and fair.

I am new here and haven't ever used the authentication services but I am glad they are here and will definitely use them if I ever purchase a luxury good online! It's a great resource.

What kind of feedback should I give? None? A neutral for dirty product?

It's too much to worry over, I guess I really don't care. I am saddened by the transaction.

It's so great when an Ebay transaction goes well and I had been having some great success with purchases, and then when one goes poorly it's sad. I need to be more careful and I think I got too high on Ebay as a way to shop. Many transactions are wonderful. Some are not. This one was not and I hope it ends well with an easy return.

Ack, should I go pull them out of the mailbox and take pictures? I don't think the people here authenticate stuff that is already purchased. But maybe I need photos to help me if a dispute? I don't think there will be a dispute, I hope the return goes smoothly and if it doesn't that's a huge problem.

That's not something you mentioned before. Now there are dirty spots?

I'm glad you'll get a refund too. And since sellers with return policies are required to take returns for any reason, she'd be required to take your return for any reason including remorse so you're returning and she's agreeing to it, something both of you are doing right.

Regarding the gloves being different from those you saw at the Uggs store in Las Vegas, unless they are the IDENTICAL item, style number, UPC code, etc., there can be variations. When making comparisons, you have to compare apples to apples.

Again, read my previous response. Something "not right" (in your opinion) might actually be right for the product you received. Without seeing the listing, it's all conjecture.

I probably wouldn't leave any.

I totally understand your disappointment. But it's not really the transaction but the quality of the product (as far as we know). Again, if it's not counterfeit but just not what you expected (and possibly a different style than those you saw previously), it's not the seller's fault.

Ebay is a great way and an easy way to shop from the comfort of your home. But in not seeing, feeling, trying on and inspecting items, a lot of transactions can be disappointing. (As an example, I'd never buy shoes or jeans online; I have to try them on.)

I'm sure that once she receives the gloves and inspects them, she'll issue the refund.

I don't think the people here authenticate stuff that is already purchased. But maybe I need photos to help me if a dispute? I don't think there will be a dispute, I hope the return goes smoothly and if it doesn't that's a huge problem.

There's no set rule for who will authenticate ended listings. Authenticators can pick and choose who to authenticate for, whether they want to help sellers, whether they want to do completed listings and whether they want to authenticate private sales and/or facebook group lisitngs.

Personally, I'm willing to help just about anyone in the brands and items I do.

My responses are in red within your post.

OK, I just grabbed them, took pics, re-wrapped. The mail truck is almost here. Should I hold these gloves or sent them back? It will take a couple minutes to post pics.

If you are not happy with them and there is a return policy, then by all means, send them back. I probably would not leave feedback.
I will say, the gloves appear to have darker areas in the listing's photos. But, that could be shadow or any number of things.
