I used to do the same thing with the 'smuggling'!! Last few months however I've decided to just go with it and act like a bought a pair of jeans or something I needed. Several bags later and DH has yet to make a comment about all of them. I used to feel bad because I haven't really worked in several years but I do a lot around the house and with the kids. I now feel like I deserve something special when I come across it.

Just had to make a comment... As a stay at home Mom who is raising kids and doing house work, you Are Working. Don't apologize for wanting something nice for yourself. You DO deserve it. I stayed at home for years raising four kids and only went back to teaching when they were grown. When it comes to bags, I just buy what I want!! :D

Thank you. I really needed to hear that, especially today. I don't feel like I ever spend too much $ on myself (neither does DH) and we can definitely afford it, but there are a few friends and family that always seem to find a way to comment on my shopping and not having a job outside of the house. But I do work hard at home and volunteer some of my time doing music therapy to those in need who can't afford to pay for it. Bags are my addiction and I'm finally getting myself to a point where I can just ignore those certain people and buy whatever bags make me happy!

Also, I apologize for high jacking this thread. The Ace satchel really is a gorgeous bag and on my list for when/if there is ever a PCE!

Ditto! Just tune those voices out! Went through all that myself. Raising children is the hardest job you will ever have. I hope you get that Ace satchel; it's gorgeous!

I deal with this same thing. It hurts when it's not your own family that makes the comments but his. Atleast my husband doesn't care what they have to say either. He agrees i deserve nice things too, and reaffirms my mom job is just as important as his. Sometimes it's hard to agree with just because of my personality but i get past it in the end. If something as small as a bag brings a smile in all the chaos of home life. ...go for it.
