Accept offer from 0 feedback buyer who just joined ebay?

When it comes to high end items I prefer not to do business with 0 fb buyers and/or sellers. Yes, we all had to start somewhere, but I know my first venture into the morass known as Ebay was a $20 purchase. Even though things have changed and buyers only have 100% + fb I would still prefer to see some kind of track record, iykwim. Now if I am selling something inexpensive I wouldn't worry (so much). But a high end hot ticket item is different.

Agreed!
I'd pass.

thanks for all the advice so far!

It's been 24 hours since I sent my email to her asking if she's a registered paypal user and no reply back yet....not looking good.

Update: the same 0 buyer sent me a best offer for my 2nd listing of Louboutin shoes and sent me an email stating she set up her paypal account so she is registered and that if I accept her offer she would pay right away. (the offer on the other pair of shoes I originally posted about expired).
I decided to take a chance as it was a good offer. I accepted her offer and within hours she paid. I'm taking that as a good sign :smile1:
Of course, after paying, she sent an email saying she'd be going out of town this weekend but hopefully she'd get the shoes by Friday. ummm, not a chance. She's on the West Coast, I'm on the East Coast. I'm shipping UPS today but she won't get them till Tuesday. I always ship insured and signature required so I feel good there.
I did give her the option to upgrade her shipping to 2nd Day at $65 extra but since I don't think she'll want to do that, if I don't hear from her by this afternoon, I'll ship today via UPS Ground.

Does anyone think it's 'fishy' she'll be going out of town? I did ask her when she'd be coming back and if she wanted me to hold the shoes till then. I didn't get a bad vibe initially but I am wondering now...

I'm not sure I see anything suspect about that if she's just gone for the weekend and will be back Monday morning. She's probably just hoping you'll expedite the shipping.

On another note about 0 fb. Until recently, I was. I didn't even know what "no 0 feedback buyers" meant. I also assumed that if you won an item you had to pay immediately (like a store) or it would become available for someone else to buy. I've since learned that's not quite how it works. However, I maintain that mentality. To me, ebay is a store just like any other. When I won my first item, I paid even before I received the invoice. I realize not everyone is like this, but I wanted to pipe in and speak up for those of us who had to start somewhere. I now have a little (1) next to my name. Yay!

^ thanks for your input Micole! I know we all have to start somewhere and my gut is this transaction will go OK but the way ebay/paypal has been lately, every transaction always causes doubt.

don't think there is anything about the buyer telling you she will be away for a few days
she didn't press you to overnight them... so as you have insured them & sig required
you should be fine...keep us posted
