Update - I went for it! More fun to carry than I thought. And I think I realized why so many women put up with how fiddly these bags are to get into and out of - by the same token they’re also pickpocket-proof! I can’t even imagine a pickpocket managing to slip fingers into a closed Kelly. :lol:View attachment 5213947

Looks great! What an excellent find! While it does look like an H Kelly, I think anyone really “in the know” would realize this isn’t a replica….the handle, the hardware, and the bottom stitching are different enough from the authentic H version. Enjoy!

Thank you all opinions... I went back to buy and it was no longer available

I did want the ferragamo Kelly but the size was not suitable for a work bag.. tat was why I gave tat one up

If anyone has other options, pls let me know, I would love to own a box leather Kelly haha thanks

What size was the bag you were looking at? The larger size of the Ferragamo “Kelly” (Gancini top handle) is the same dimensions as a H Kelly 28. It has an internal divider instead of just an open compartment, if that’s something you like or not.

I actually prefer the Ferragamo version for usability. Sadly I’m so used to my mini bags now I find this beauty is languishing in my closet…I really need to pull it out more!

Thanks Foxgal! I hadn’t noticed the bottom stitching differences. And an update - another reason unlike an H (presumably): after a single day of light use, the croc skin is starting to buckle away from the underlying frame. It’s not much, but noticeably slouching. I’m just trying to figure out what manufacturer would have used such a nice skin to make something so poorly. Or maybe it’s just a function of age? Anyway, disappointing.

Tory Burch also has a Kelly style bag in many different sizes.

of you are still looking for your Kelly style bag
Mango and Steve Madden have one the Steve Madden only comes in a mini size however the mango one comes mini and a big size.
the mini is not impractical mini it fits your essentials and looks Rea cute in pictures. I don’t have one but both are gorgeous. I might get the Steve Madden one.

Hi @Sa26…I’m not looking for a Kelly, I was quoting the OP @DizzyFairy. But I’ve long been a fan of the Tory Burch Lee Radziwill collection.

Hello dear purse people, I’m hoping to revive this thread because I have a similar dilemma. I came across a Kelly croc lookalike while thrifting, and now I don’t know whether I can wear it / whether it’s in good taste to wear it. I think it’s trying really hard to look like an H. That said, a number of small clues make me pretty sure it’s true vintage - despite a nylon zipper that initially gave me pause. I’m thinking early 70s. I simply bought it because because I think it’s a pretty amazing skin — to me it looks like fantastically symmetrical crocodile porosus belly skin. That said, the finish is so heavily glossy (feels like patent leather basically) that my usual radars are a bit blocked and I could be way off - might even be synthetic! But if it is, it’s pretty well done - I’ve photographed the iso pores for you! I’d love to know what you purse-knowledgeable people think of this bag, but also what you think about someone wearing it. I’ll confess I have an allergy to knock-offs, and while I know the Kelly has a history outside of H, and this bag is completely unlabelled (I guess not trying toooo hard) I’m trying to figure out whether it’s too far into that territory. Thank a million!! (ETA it’s 32 cm along the bottom)View attachment 5212875

This is a gorgeous bag! As a Kelly owner I see no issues....there were many bags made like this at that time (just as there are now), and it doesn't at all look like a replica, just like a cool croc bag (I can't tell from the photos it's real skin but look for the follicles etc).

I saw someone on the street today with this exact bag and it was sooooooooooo chic! There are only so many bag styles, and top handle with a turnlock is a classic.

its a really beautiful bag the Lee Radiziwill. But hey if DizzFairy is looking for a Kelly style then i gave her an option.
it’s great when you find a nice inspiration style of your dream bag. It’s always great to find the look for less.
do you buy luxury bags or contemporary inspired in luxury. I ?
go for the second, though I don’t do the shaming bag thing for the ones who do buy luxur.y like Chanel or LV

Hi FG. Spot on! Since my last post on this thread many moons ago, I ended up getting this exact same Ferragamo Kelly and a vintage Hermes Kelly 28. Both exact same size. I ended up using Ferragamo for work and Hermes Kelly for going out. ☺️

I’m waiting for a navy blue real crocodile copy Birkin

Whilst in theory I don’t approve, I mainly carry exotics, my dream would be an Hermes indigo exotic Kelly, in reality it’s not going to happen, so it’s buy a very good copy-I used to work in high jewellery, my best friend since I was 17 is now the manager of Graff, he said it was a good copy.

Coming from Japan -so dreading customs bill-ironically they sold the identical bag but H the same day for over $110,000

If I had that spare I’d spend it on jewellery, not a bag, however much I wanted the bag..

If I could afford the Kelly indigo pochette I think I might buy that though…D1F32296-13E5-41A7-898F-5BAEB54D99D2.jpeg

personally I think there is nothing wrong on buying or wearing bags which are like almost identical to designer bags as long as you don’t buy fakes.

im actually a hunter for legal dupes coming from contemporary and sub contemporary designers.

I already have a Lou Lou sort of dupe from the Kate Spade outle different quilting design but very similar shape I think and I the chain looks similar to the Lou Lou.

I also have my classic flap Chanel dupe from Purificacion García

and I have a sac de Jour dupe from Michael Kors.

i want a Padded Casette dupe, I’ll wait a while for it but that’s my next dupe target

for the cassette dupe, my local TJ maxx has had excellent leather dupes by Italian designers. I bought a black one, changed the strap and added a gold chain which pumped it up. The bag was $70, chain was $12. It’s gorgeous and well made.

I really like the style of Kelly bags.. Generally all brands of Kelly are very appealing to me
Found a Kelly which looks similar to Hermes Kelly... And i Would like it to use it for work

It's individually marked, roberta di camerino.. Their vintage bags were very popular back in the days

What do you think of this bag? Would it make it more un-appealing because it look extremely like the Hermes.?

Gorgeous bag. I’ve scoped that brand out and also come upon it when vintage shopping. Seems to be excellent quality with classic design in mind.

It probably is a function of age, aiyamei. :console:

That being said, you might try to have it repaired.

(FYI: whenever I buy a vintage bag, I almost expect it to have its hidden flaws.)

More to the point, even if the bag turns out to a loss, at least now you know that the Kelly style works for you.

Agree with @Fimpagebag re function of age! Still A very cool bag and you look great with it!
