A difference I've noticed in the D&B forum compared to other brands....

LOL! Thanks! We all deserve THE BEST quality and Luxury and I believe with my entire heart we are getting that with Dooney. ;)
I believe that too, it seems like exceptional quality. I was searching for a smaller cross body bag and realized that I've owned it this whole time....a vintage Dooney square carrier. It's in excellent condition so not sure what more I could want in a smaller bag.
My search is over!

I agree Surf, I got caught up for quite awhile on the LV wave but am pretty much over that!
Now I'm setting my sights on Dooney and have the 1975 satchel and the cabbage roses tote bag. Love them both.
I would love to have one of the new drawstring bags (Serena?) as the quality looks great but some have said that they're so stiff.......guess they need to be broken in over time?

Beautiful bags though, like works of art! And half the price of the uber popular Mansur Gavriel bags that are all the rage and have a waiting list!

I was intrigued by your Mansur Gavriel comment so I looked up some reviews on YouTube. Alansgail, you are absolutely correct that the Montecito Serena is so very very close to the Gavriel bucket- down to the pouch. I have the Serena and I was a day away from returning her until I saw the videos.

I used her today and I didn't have a problem with the stiffness (and I have been very wary of the stiffness). One benefit of having a stiffer bucket bag is that it doesn't collapse when retrieving items from it. I'm super glad that I took a chance and kept the Serena though the stiffness will be a deal breaker for many.

I've not given up hope on the possibility of owning one of those gorgeous Dooney buckets! I feel it would be very satisfying in a way to weather through the "break in" period with the bag.
Then it would take on such a beautiful patina and would soften.
I agree about the structure, that's why I chose the Valentina bucket that I was so fortunate to find at TJMaxx of all places.....it's a softer leather but has a nice base to it and it stands wonderfully on it's own.

I've really been enjoying this bag but I still love the looks of the Dooney!

I'm super glad to hear you decided to keep the Serena. She is on my " To Get " list for the summer but I've just been wondering myself if the stiffness would agree with me or not. In away I keep thinking for the fabulous look of the bag I could and would get over it just because of how beautiful she truly is!

That's because the big brands justify the price as due to better quality and the denial shatters when the $1000 price hasn't bought anything that great in the end;)

Lots of truth to this.

I've been lucky with all my bags. I've never had any problem with Dooney, Longchamp (nylon or leather) or my higher priced designer handbags. I know the St. Louis (Goyard) has trouble with the handles splitting where it attaches to the bag but mine haven't had this problem. BUT, I've seen so many complaints about this style that I've counted myself lucky with my two and have never bought another, even though I would like to add another color to my Goyard collection. The other thing that drives me crazy is how many higher priced designer handbags increase their prices by a big percentage on a yearly basis. I guess Dooney might too but it's not so noticeable!

Dooneys are gorgeous, beautiful bags and I think we definitely get our money's worth. Some folks may turn up a nose to Dooney but they don't know what they're missing!

Thanks for the advice, wish I could but there isn't one anywhere near me! Those who have once close consider yourselves lucky.
Ilove Dooney has altos sometimes. They don't always come up automatically but if you search for Alto within the site they will come up if they are available. That times looked they had three different styles.

Another thing that's not lost on me is how NICE the ladies on this particular forum are. Inclusive and welcoming to all. That's so nice!
It's a celebration of both vintage and new Dooneys......I love reading all of the stories of the purchases through the years of your coveted bags. Makes it so much more personal.

It seems to me that those who own Dooney's have an emotional attachment that is so nice to hear.

I agree! I feel we Dooneynistas have a real love and passion for our bags and not about the initials or price (meaning wanting to show off the price). Our number 1 is quality!!! And that's exactly what Dooney has.

I have peeked over at the other forums and I'm like WOW!!!... Let me get outta here quick!!! Thank all you ladies for being YOU!!!
