I’m cooking my husband breakfast and the UPS man knocks on the door like he’s the police. Scared me. Immediately I’m cutting the box open, not anticipating how stunning she is. Take her out and inspect… hubby comes downstairs and I dip her off to the side and finish cooking. Put her up on the counter and snap pics. I’ll unwrap after I eat.

This looks like the original Bordeaux color from years ago. Perfect!

Thank you both. I set my bid and raised it to my maximum sweet spot. In those last few minutes somebody was really trying, but wasn’t meant for them. There is a chestnut in this style that the seller was selling along with this… starting bid $126; a real steal, smooth and in great condition. But this crimson caught my eye, and I hadn't seen this color for sale. There a a couple brown tmoro, chestnut, natural, and ivory in this style on the resale sites. I wish Peter would bring some of the older styles back from the vault in Florentine not just pebbled leather.
so I’m gonna sit down somewhere and wait for my Tilton to cone next month. I’ve been working all day setting up my shelving and smelling all the leather. That room smells like an expensive new car…hope you have a blessed weekend

This bag has been haunting me for a long time! When it debuted I loved it but I needed something bigger (think tote) for my work week. When I started carrying a separate bag for my work junk (Dooney Nylon Editor Tote) I couldn't find it at retail anymore and it was expensive (higher than Dooney's original price) on ebay.
Every time I think I have it out of my system someone shares a picture of their bag and it starts haunting me again.
I'm so happy for you! It's beautiful, in pristine condition, and came wrapped better than I've seen new bags.

Was wrapped way better than my Tilton LOL. I wanted this bag in red. It looks so beautiful in that pretty bright red. There was a brown tmoro for sale I almost went for. But THIS, I don’t have anything in crimson, if I couldn’t get it in red this was the next best thing. I did condition her this morning, and she’s grinning at me while drying.
unicorn hunting is so fun especially when finding a steal on a discontinued rare bag that’s in fabulous condition. The seller has a chestnut and the price is GREAT… Eying it but Im ok with just this one of this style.

im off to ban island, unless a small Logan pops up and it’s in that great price sweet spot… I’ll be lurking to see all the pretty Florentines while sipping my pina colada from my lounger on ban island. And of course I’ll be sniffing all my Florentine leather

RN: it's a beautiful handbag. But aren't you into lighter weight bags you can carry
around these days? I love that satchel also, but I can't even carry the medium
without the front pockets.

I am currently torturing myself over a blue handbag even tho I just bought one in
a similar color.... different collections, different handles, same style, but each had +/-.
I would have been 'safe' for a while except a friend saw the handbag and let me
know she bought one! Now, I want it also!

In 2013, I purchased a small Florentine pocket satchel. (Post attached from the Florentine thread.) It was just a little too small for what I needed at the time because I was carrying a book to read at lunch and a water bottle. I gifted it to a friend when I moved in 2014. It was a beautiful red. I would think about replacing it from time to time but I was really hoping for the double pocket satchel in red.

Whenever you're ready to escape Ban Island just light the "Bag" Signal and I'll rescue you.

I'm spending more time with the family. Actually my days of living in SF most of the month are winding down. (I moved here during the lockdown and stayed a lot longer than I planned.)
When I'm with the family I'm breaking out my heavy to carry walking bags and loving them again. I take morning walks when I'm with the family but all I need for those walks is a fanny pack. I'm looking forward to pulling my bags out the closet.

Lol. Temptation is the worst… only way I’m coming off the island is that Logan, might consider it pebbled leather instead of Florentine… saw it in suede but price way too high. Im So content as I walk into my 3rd bedroom/ purse cave and being hit smack dab in the face by that Florentine smell. If I keep the door closed will the smell intensify? Yummy

I was on Ebay and Poshmark after I posted earlier and you're right, no one is giving up a red double pocket satchel. I have four grandchildren and depending on how they behave at school will determine which one I'm willing to trade for a pristine red double pocket satchel.

I'm glad you kept the older handbag treasures and can enjoy them again.
I've noticed over time that my handbag needs and preference change
and cycle. That's how I justify holding on to so many handbags.
Although in reality I can't see ever using shoulder bags or cross body bags
again. No matter how my needs change, my neck and shoulder issues won't go away.
Sometimes I fold up the straps to hand carry these bags and sometimes I try to
attach shorter straps.

Yes, they are pricey. But they are "crafted by hand in Connecticut from the finest European leather." Some styles come with a coordinating, detachable leather clutch.

Other luxury brands sell for ten times as much because they are 'hand crafted'
in France or Italy or Spain. And we don't know if those manufacturing sites are
staffed by old world craftsman or imported labor from other countries.

In general Dooney quality if outstanding. And while I prefer lower prices,
even other contemporary brands, like Coach, etc. have lots of handbags
in that price range... and they are not even hand crafted.

As to whether a particular collection like OnCour is worth more than Florentine...
or as much as Alto.... that is an interesting question. I haven't owned any
OnCour bags but my experience with Made in USA bags from Dooney
has been excellent.
