I don't know about Manhattan, but there are several in Jackson Heights in Queens, a short walk from the 74th St and Broadway subway station.I also would love to know if there are any good Indian jewelry stores in NYC- Manhattan? I will be there in September and would love to see some of this gold in person. I have never owned anything above 18 kt.
the website looks pretty legit but i've never bought from them. i am of indian orgin, and my mother always throws a fit when i wear 18kt jewellery. for my parents 22kt is the only one worth wearing. 22kt gold chains are usually made thicker across India/Middle East. This could be due to the relative "softness" of the gold. i however think, its more of a cultural thing. traditionally more gold reflects prosperity and health. so a lady wearing thick gold necklace will be seen as more well off than a fancy and thin gold chain. 22kt gold is definitely very yellow and i don't think it matches everyone's skin tone, which is why i prefer 18 - 20kt. before you buy online, i would recommend you go into an indian jeweller in your area, and have a look at how the gold looks against your skin tone. shocking yellow gold can be a bit of a turn-off. but thats just by opinion.
FYI - this website looks like it deals with South Indian Style gold pieces. Throughout each region of India, people wear different styles of gold. The different patterns and styles are made to suit the cultural sensibilities of each region. I personally love the Vaddanam - this is a waist belt made out of gold, and is usually worn by women on special occaisons. It ties over the waist part of their sari, and can look gorgeous if you have the figure to pull it off. They are generally worn by Brides, adding to their gorgeous look on their wedding day. Thats my trivia for the day!

Hello,
I saw a listing for 23k gold jewelry and it says it is from India and solid gold. The hallmark on the item says 23 K G. I just want to make sure it means Karat Gold. Also, how careful do you have to be with more karat weight of gold? I usually buy 14k gold. Will I have to worry about it losing its shape if I buy a higher Karat weight?
Also, in my interest of finding a lovely piece of jewelry, I stumbled upon this site. It looks legit. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this site and/or if they have ordered from this site before. Thanks in advance.
