Wishing you as least stressful year as possible ..❤️❤️❤️❤️Last year was tough and this one won't be any easier. I did a lot of stress shopping last year and it did help me take my mind off things. I want to leave that option open but also learn to find other ways to destress.
1. Remain in the space I have for bags and clothes. That means things must go if I want to add things.
2. Stick with what works for me, whether others like it or not. [Don't buy the big Floral dress my friend insists I get when I know I will never wear it]
3.Work on personal Style. Started last year and got sidetracked. Get rid of stuff that I don't wear that isn't special or doesn't fit well.
4. Make complete outfits and purchase the missing pieces. I have too many things that don't get worn because I'm missing the right shoe etc.
5. Have some fun within reason.
Some of these on my list could really be part of the same thing, but to make sure I actually do them I am making them separate. Budget is something I have gotten better with, though I will keep that in mind too.
I don't live in Cali but I live where it's very hot and humid for a lot of the year. Personally, I find a loose dress in a breathable fabric to be good for the heat. Short sleeves and maybe around knee length so air can circulate my limbs too. Maybe a very light linen scarf if it gets breezy at night.
Oh and I remember my mom having dress shields for underarm sweat back in the day but idk if they exist anymore.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, successful new year ahead; full of peace and healing!
I'm not very good with heat. I didn't find it too hot (as a monthly long visitor) rather more manageable than neighbor states. Average is supposed to be low-80s. Like anywhere, in the evening the temperature may drop, so you may need a light coverup between dances. Since it's been themed 'rustic', it's going to be more casual. I don't think you can go wrong with a pure silk slip dress of whichever length suits you best, and since there are sales on at the moment, you can probably buy one at a discount. Just avoid the obvious Christmassy, holiday colours - although colours like silver or bright red look totally different in the Summer anyway. Summer sandals you can walk/dance in. Take a fine or shawl, wrap, or shirt just in case.
Looks very elegant!Thank you ladies!I'm not good with heat either. Would rather be in a cold place than hot lol.
Yes that is exactly what I did. I bought a ralph lauren satin dress 40% off. Unfortunately not silk, I wasn't paying attention to the material, mostly looking at photos at the time.

Of course, I bet it's super long and I'll have to get it altered.
I'll be on the hunt for a light summer scarf/shawl/wrap after my Q1 shopping ban! Perhaps shop for one when I'm overseas.![]()
Thank you! (hope it fits lol) I wanted something to match the outdoorsy/ranch theme but not be too literal. Something a little more abstract.Looks very elegant!
These are great . I might borrow a few of your ideas.Happy New Year to everyone, and hoping we all reach purse peace in 2025!
I feel pretty good about the resolutions I made a year ago. Ironically, staying off this thread helps, because i just want everything I see LOL). I did not sell the two bags I had hoped to. I'm carrying smaller bags, because of work changes. I'm still addicted to Calvis, and am mostly using my mini Evelyn, Trims, and a black Christine. I bought and sold a few H scarves, but did not buy one thing from the current collections, because the designs and the prices do not line up for me any more.
I'm going to renew these resolutions from 2024:
Shop mindfully: be aware of food sources and manufacturing conditions
Watch out for impulse buying (it’s on sale!) and aspirational shopping
Avoid thinking "If it doesn't work out I can sell it," because that has become too difficult
Admire pictures of everyone’s scarves and bags without wanting one for myself !!!
Avoid buying something in every color just because one color works
Rotate and use all my lovely bags (track), change Calvis monthly
Continue to curate my scarf collection and enjoy each precious piece
Sell two bags (already listed)
Set limits on tPF, be aware of mindless scrolling and don’t overdo the “socializing”
And borrowing this from @Claudia Herzog "Identify the bags I did not carry at all in 2024 and prioritize carrying them in 2025. I further need to identify the characteristics that made me pass over these bags."
The skirt looks great. I really like your ideas.I started out the night before New Year’s Eve getting really fixated and stressed out about creating a capsule wardrobe and staying up until 4 AM doing some research on it. In hindsight, I was transferring my worry about some test my husband needed to do for a medical condition onto my closet. (he got some good news so I was happy about that.)
What I came to realize is that it is something that I don’t need to do. I currently have a two days in the office/three days out of the office work schedule. I also have some interesting vintage clothing. We’re talking pieces like 1970s Pucci and 80s Chanel. I don’t wear most of them anymore, but I am happy when I see them so I don’t feel the need to give those up to create a capsule wardrobe and I’m lucky that my closet is a decent enough size.
That being said here are my goals starting with the fashion related ones.
1) Buy less this year. After Christmas, I went to Woodbury common and only bought a scarf and a sweater. And I bought one bag that I’d wanted for a long time off TRR. So I’d like to continue that trend.
2) same as last year, spend no more than 3 1/2% of my salary on clothing or accessories. If I go over, I have to sell things.
3) do more with the accessories I already have. I have a small collection of Hermès shawls and scarves and necklaces that I don’t wear enough. Most of my clothing is black, gray or navy and could do with some accessories to make it interesting.
4) Since I am not doing a capsule wardrobe, I need to organize my closet better.
5) learn more about investing and be more on top of it. If anyone has any advice or recommendations, I have a few books that I’m reading and a lot on Reddit, which can be a little bit of a rabbit hole. I find a lot of investment firms want to sell you on their services Which isn’t surprising, but I like to do my research to find balanced opinions.
6) try to get more on top of managing my perimenopause. I can’t do HRT because I have endometriosis. It’s incredibly annoying so I have to find other ways to try to feel like myself. I’m doing a lot of research and I’m pretty on top of taking supplements and diet but again it’s quite frustrating.
7) don’t stress about it too much. Last year both my husband and I had health issues. And I lost my dad the year before that so this year I just want to enjoy life and I know work is going to be pretty intense this year/borderline awful because my industry is going through layoffs and consolidation.
8) reuse and repurpose some of my clothing. This used to be a ball gown and I had it made into a skirt (please ignore the horrible angle of the photo).View attachment 6110366
This dress looks gorgeous on you!Bringing closure to the dress for a ranch/rustic outdoor wedding. It just came in today!
And omg, it’s a perfect fit! This almost never happens when I order online.

It came with a nice garment bag and Ralph Lauren hanger.
It’s lined on the inside so it’s not see through and it still feels comfy and lightweight.
Any color recommendations for a shawl? (Though let’s try not to go for white lol)

Great goals! Love your avatar!I actually made it in time for the start of the thread this year!
I recently downloaded an app to track what is in my closet (mostly my handbags, but it's useful for clothes too), since my disorganization and loss of object permanence has me buying a lot of duplicates. Using this tracking, my goals are as follows:
1) Before purchasing a new bag, check the app to make sure I don't already have something similar I forgot about, in terms of both color and style.
2) Before purchasing a new bag, make sure it works with my existing wardrobe, and that I am not going to be scrambling to buy extra clothes to make it work.
3) Based on my review of my current wardrobe in my tracking app, I am no longer allowed to buy pullover sweaters, sweatshirts, or necklaces. I mostly need dressier items, I am overflowing with casual and athleisure.
Goal bags I am hoping to add to my collection and will need to be a bit disciplined to obtain (i.e., no more spontaneous Poshmark purchases):
1) Vintage Vibrato Bolide or Plume
2) Moynat coated canvas Boston Bag
I am continuing to purge bags that I do not use, or are duplicative of other bags I like better/wear more.
