2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

Hi all sorry I was away for so long, I hope everyone is well.
I got rid of a bunch of shoes that were very old and worn out ( and scarcely used any longer.) now I need to find a few good comfortable basics to fill in some gaps.
I have a few loafers that really need replacing but I have trouble finding stylish but super comfortable ones like I have now. The ones I have are from Sperry and are very cushy inside, but look worse for wear.
Any recommendations for comfy loafers are appreciated!
I am also looking for a cute lightweight summery bag and have these two that I'm debating over.
One is a mini pale pink Ricky that is just too cute and I've wanted pink for a long time; but the hardware is a bit busy on such a small bag and I have cream bags so how different is it really?
The other is a silver lizard petite peekaboo that I am in love with. It's stunning but I do not baby my bags. I have bags to take to Costco, to wear to Walmart , and they go in the wagon, on the floor of my car etc.
I don't know how delicate lizard is, and realistically can I do that with lizard?
( I have by Bvlgari silvery gold karung bag as my dressy bag that rarely gets used, I don't want another that will be rarely used.)
Any thoughts of why one vs the other ?
sorry this got so long

Here are pics of the two I'm debating over.
ETA I love exotics but realistically I don't think a croc or gator is in my budget, but I'm hoping the lizard will scratch that desire.
However my full size Ricky is my most favorite treasured bag ( although because of its weight, it's not often used).

They’re both lovely but lizard is quite delicate and needs more babying.the pink is more practical x
I was afraid of that!
My MK snakeskin purse is so lightweight and comfortable and needs no babying at all, I guess I hoped lizard is the same .
Also, off topic I saw your beloved cat passed and I'm so sorry. Wishing you peace and comfort

To be truthful the bag I'm truly truly in love with is a mini Ricky in red gator. I love the color, the gator and the Ricky style. But I find the price very difficult to swallow and again I'm not sure gator will fit my lifestyle and bag usage.

Right?!
But how delicate/fragile is alligator? And will it soften or slouch?
I hate slouchy bags
I use it Every day-I have 2 navy crocodile bags(one Jimmy Choo, which I bought new years ago, when they were really good quality), I use it all of the time, I hate slouchy bags too..it’s kept its structure, colour, shape…doesn’t look old, I don’t baby it..take it out in all weathers etc..

This was taken a couple of days ago..

I think all the bags you like are beautiful, but I am wondering if perhaps you should wait for a bag that you don't see as having many negatives. When I buy a bag that I am not a 100 percent sure of, I always end up getting rid of it. Come join us in the 2024 thread .

OMG I haven't been getting notifications because I haven't been in the 2024 thread at all - time for me to get caught up!

Sorry to hear about Tammy. It was very hard for me when my dog passed away. One reason I am hesitant to ever get another pet.

2 very different options in my opinion. I am no expert on exotics and only own 1 old Versace snakeskin bag that a friend gave to me as a gift. Have only used it once and it seems fragile like the scales are inclined to lift up. You have referred to the Fendi as lizard but the description states Karung. I have never seen this in person but googled it and here is what came up:

The Karung's skin (sea snake) is very beautiful and tender. Even though it is so thin and soft, it is very resistant. Products made of Karung's leather are extremely durable. The original unique pattern of each product emphasizes the individuality of its owner.

That being said, you already own a Karung bag so you would know better about the quality. Have you seen either in person? I can tell you that the Petite size Peekaboo is Very small. Like it takes work to try to fit a cell phone in. Nothing like the regular size peekaboo. Not sure how the Ricky compares.

Anyway, I will try to move over to the 2024 thread and catch up this weekend!
