2023 Resolution: Shopping my Own Bags and SLG Collection

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

A long standing tradition in this thread is to remind ourselves of how wonderful our own collections are by showcasing them. We can see how far we have come, collection wise, and we reminded that we have all (or most of) what we need making it easier to shop our own closets.

• New theme weeks start each Sunday

• Don’t jump ahead but, if you miss a week, please do show your bags “late”.

• Show bags individually or in a group

• You do NOT have to wear the bags that week

• For added fun, show old pictures from previous years to demonstrate how you have curated it over time.

• This is completely voluntary. There is no pressure to post at any time.

So what are the showcases? In the Fall, we group our bags by makers! Feel free to show bags, small leather goods, or however it is easiest to organize!

August 20 - Burberry, Celine

August 27 - Coach, Chanel

Saw these in a boutique today! I generally don’t do shoulder bags but they were quite light and the Italian leather was very nice. They are not a name brand and would not be easy to sell, but I really liked them. The top one has more of a moss green tone in real life. Both bags have side pieces that can turn it into more of a tulip shape. I would only get one. What do you think ?

Both look very nice regarding both the design and the leather quality.

Not sure I like both and they both seem neutral. I am tempted by both. The darker one would probably get more wear. My hubby thinks I should get one from a different store that we frequently visit, but they only have black, Forest green, teal and navy blue in that shop. What do you think?
If I had to chose between all colour options you are mentioning I´d go for the darker beige. This bag seems to be a neutral summer bag to me and a dark colour wouldn´t reflect this so well.

I bought 2 bags in April. One is a Brahmin I still haven't carried. The other is a Balenciaga in ultraviolet that was an impulse buy. I've carried it 10 days in a row.

The bag out was a horrible experience. I sold a brand new bag to a nightmare buyer on Poshmark. She returned it damaged and Poshmark just gave me a courtesy store credit for half the amount. I donated the bag so I wouldn't have to think about it anymore.

I'm continuing my reading pace, 3 to 5 books a month. I still have a backlog of about 20 books on my kindle.

I carried 8 bags this month.

I bought a couple of new pairs of shoes this month. One pair is from Allbirds. I've been wanting to try the brand for awhile.

Here is a picture of the new Balenciaga.

I´m so sorry you had such a horrible experience selling your bag!

I haven´t sold anything in ages... and when I finally had a request for one of my listings in the classifieds the wording was so rude I simply deleted it and did not reply. I wasn´t keen on further contact with a buyer like this.

Oops, I might have shopped a lot...
- 6 bags in (4 of them vintage and very cheap)

# brown 60ies python top handle bag (a present from DH while we were at a fleamarket)
# brown moc croc 50ies top handle kisslock bag that can easily do 40ies too (fleamarket)
# big black doctor bag with an amazing bright green interior (fleamarket)
# cream vinyl small 50ies kisslock bag (ebay: 1€!)

# Dior Lady Perla Malice, 1999 in black polished calfskin (This one scratches my itch for a Lady Dior!)
# Dior Miss Dior, 2013, grey with silver hardware (still expensive for me, but apparently the cheapest on the market here.)

- no bags out
- no slgs out
- no slgs in.

Bags worn: the mustard Dior New Lock, my 35cm Imposter, the Dior Soft Babe in black

Sorry, there aren´t any nice photos yet. Here are my unboxing pictures from the two Dior bags. (Before doing anything to them. Both were priced according to their condition and I am very happy with them.)

I am sorry you had a horrible buyer. They ruin it for the rest of us. Love the color of your new Balenciaga.

Um, yikes. I'm thrilled with all my purchases but it's time to relax and enjoy what I have for a while.

Pretty much wore the purple Le Pliage Cuir all month, usually in the matching Neo to carry my laptop.

Switched to my black toile Hermes Yeoh over the weekend, to celebrate getting the leather one back from spa. I ended up not getting the Box leather top repaired, as it would cost pretty much the whole value of the bag. It's modular and I can use the top from the toile bag *and* get my nice local leather guy to fix the other one. Spa did charge (unexpectedly and mildly annoyingly) for cleaning and moisturizing the bag - the lower part is dreamily soft now - and the receipt says it's Cerf (deerskin) so now I know! (I've seen similar bags listed as either Togo or Buffle.)

Bags in or out - 1 in, 0 out. The one in was the Howl and Hide Parkway Saddlebag - I'm very happy with it!
Scarves in or out - Zero! But no worries, I'm 2 in for May and it's only the 3rd...

Books read - 2 - Pineapple Street, and Other Birds. Currently reading One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson and 11/12/63 by Stephen King (a re-read).

Made a small donation to St Vincent, did some organizing of the pantry and a few cabinets; still working on the Christmas stockings. The annual 'Battle With the Birds' is in round two - I'm currently winning because I haven't had any eggs fall on my head - or the ground.
It's been a quiet month - mostly!

April stats: No bags in or out, no slgs in or out. Carried at least 8 bags.

It has been kind of a blah month for me. I've spent a lot of time going through my clothes, and organizing, but haven't really decluttered much. I have two tubs of clothing that are too loose for me, but they're going nowhere for the present. I am hoping to maintain a somewhat steady weight without fluctuations for several months before I actually declutter anything from my wardrobe.

Now that color weeks are coming to an end, I was wondering if we will have a challenge for the upcoming month? I have a suggestion -- how about a pic of your favorite bag with your pet? For those of us that don't have pets (like me), we will just have to be creative -- maybe my neighbor's cat will be willing to pose with my bag? If not, I will have to think of something else.
