Thank you all for the wonderful advice. Btw pardon my delayed response. I am still adjusting to life with three kids (I have 3 kids ages 3 and under) and havent had more than a few minutes to myself lately.

Saligator, good pint on size as it would save a lot.

Etk, good to know you are happy with studs this color and clarity as I may go this route.

Sky queen, you are right GIA cert is important, will prob go this route.

Ame, I was hoping you would weigh in as you are quite the resident diamond expert.

Daisy day, this is a great idea! did you have a 10 percent off coupon with blue Nile? When you say they made it a matched pair, do you mean they gave you pricing of a preset stud instead of having to pay for build your own set? Would love to hear more details as I will likely go with bluenile.

Kaui sailor, thank you for the advice, I would likely be purchasing online from bluenile, so would probably be ok with vs2 or si1 clarity since I think this is fine for studs. If not, I know they have excellent return policy.

LTking, thank you, good point about just under size.

These are all amazing suggestions, please feel free to chime in if anyone else has other thoughts.

I bought my studs a few yrs ago at ID jewlery ( I believe at the recommendation of Ame)

I am super happy with them and I decided to go ahead and not go GIA cert. and haven't regretted it at all. I'm happy with the look of them completely and don't plan on selling. Plus it was nice saving that money.

Plus I like that "if" I wanted to, I could go back to them and upgrade.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy them!

If you buy from bluenile, try to pick the diamonds individually, not to use their "paired" mechanism. Then you can call the customer service to make them a pair. I saved about $1500 by this strategy. The pair of earrings maybe not quite "perfectly matching" on the girth/width, symmetrical etc..but have ideal cut, G color, VS1 and 1 carat each. If you do not have your ears sitting side by side, no one can see the difference of symmetry...even put the diamonds togethere, we, not jewelers, can not tell. Also you can pick up the mild fluorescent ones (no one can see the fluorescence with naked eyes).
Hi daisydai,
Thanks so much for the suggestion about selecting diamonds individually and having customer service make them a matched pair. Didn't realize they would do this. So did they basically ended up charging you for preset studs? Did you save simply because they charged you for preset studs or was it because they were also able to apply a coupon?

(I noticed is they often have 10 percent coupons that can be used towards preset studs but doesn't apply to build your own, so that's why I ask)

Thanks in advance for any more info!
