I guess 4 prong is in the lead.
Everyone with the Martini setting, don't you find since they are so close to the ear that they get dirty quicker say with the oil from your skin?

I have the 4 prong martini but wanted the 3 prong...jeweler talked me out of it.
You may also want to invest in elephant backs (large backs) so your studs sit upright nicely.
Do not find they get dirty.................

Mine don't get dirtier. I take them off at night and clean them about once/month. They're never very dirty.

My friend's must get very dirty, she wears her so tight and deep digging into her ear. . . I wince when I look at them.

I prefer 6 prongs for diamond over 1ct. It could be less metal and look delicate depends on the jewelrer, as I see in Tiffany 6 prong setting it is hardly to see the prongs

4 prong is my preference, definitely not 6 prong for something over 1 ct in my opinion. I prefer as little metal as possible on a stone but still want them to be secure so I'd opt for 4 prong.

Well I'm looking to buy them online but I do already have the martini and I'm just not crazy about them for some reason, I bought them because studs seem to droop in my ears. I know the 6 prong would be more secure but I think the 4 prong looks much nicer, surprisingly though I saw a 6 prong which I liked, so hence my question. More than likely I'll go with the four and get the backings that were suggested.
Thanks for all your opinions and advice.
