I currently have 3 small dakotahs: black/gunmetal, black/gold, and light blue. I also have the large size in violet and teal so I was thinking I could maybe give up one dakotah for another saddle bag. I presaled the floral applique saddle bag but am also loving the pebbled mineral fringe version. I played with it in store and it felt softer than my teal dakotah. My teal dakotah does have the stiffest leather of my 5 though and is the only one to show edgepaint cracking where the strap attaches to the bag. Dakotah is still my favorite style bag though :)

Just jumping in here! If I were you I would keep the Dakotah. I have the small Dakotah in black, and the leather is just gorgeous, one of my favorite bags. The pebbled leather texture is soft and supple, while the saddle bag's leather is stiffer, and would show scratches easily. While it is still a beautiful bag, I wouldn't trade a Dakotah for it. Just MO. ;)

Sorry to ask you a million questions lately but which do you prefer overall, dakotahs or saddle bags? I'm thinking of selling my teal dakotah and buying the mineral saddle bag.

I prefer the Pebbled Saddle Bag over the Dakotah. My main reason is the strap- I can double my saddle bag's strap but the Dakotah strap is just a tad too long for me on the shortest setting. The leather on my saddle bag is actually quite soft and it is breaking in beautifully. I think the leather is comparable, but the lining of the saddle bag is way better. I also like the slimmer profile of the saddle bag versus the bulk of the Dakotah. My saddle bag does not show any scratches as it is pebbled leather.
The mineral whiplash is absolutely TDF!

The multiple strap options is really making me lean towards the saddle bag. I've tried so hard to ignore all of the saddle bags because of all of my dakotahs. Then I saw your gorgeous applique bag and just had to presale it. But of course the moment I walked into the store they had the mineral sitting front and center, I just couldn't walk past it without paying with it! I'm hoping to make it there tomorrow or Friday to try it out one more time to make a decision.

Yahoo! I hope you love it! It's a really great bag, and it gets even better with use. :D
I made a last minute decision to switch to oxblood before my store shipped the bag out. I swear they give me the best service. I think oxblood will be great for longevity and versatility.

You will love the oxblood! I just sent mine back but only because I bought the oxblood rogue. I knew I wanted 1 bag in mineral and 1 bag in oxblood. Since mineral rogue didn't come with gunmetal hardware I went with it in the whiplash saddle bag and got the rogue in oxblood.
