Hi,

I’m planning to purchase a pre-loved Alhambra bracelet and since I am hourrrssssss away from an actual boutique, I am unable to get it resized to fit and I’ll be itching to wear it asap so I’m going to get this done at a trusted family jeweler.

Has anyone had their bracelet resized to 16.5cm / 6.5”? Can you post a picture of how it was done? I’ve heard of 3 links between each motif but what about the links by the clasp? Pics would be so helpful!

I’d like to give the jeweler as much detail
to avoid any potential expensive mishaps!

Thank you!

You can send to to NYC to have the servicing done and that way no issues down the road. VCA could in future refuse to service a bracelet altered.

Thank you. I read that post but didn’t find a “finished” product that came out to 16.5cm/6.5cm which I was hoping for. I did see someone calculate our 4 link removal results in 16.5/6.5, but I was hoping to get real feedback whether that was the case or not.

There is no boutique in my state either - I’ve made my purchases with VCA via phone, and they assist in getting it resized. Even with buying pre-owned, I second what @missie1 suggested - reaching out to VCA to having it serviced.
Let’s say a stone eventually breaks or cracks - would you want your jeweler to replace it, making it a non-VCA stone, or would you want VCA to do so, so it remains fully authentic?

My first bracelet was resized 3 times. My second and third, 2x each. It turns out there is slight variation in length for every stone. If you were to walk out of VCA today with a MOP and Blue Agate, without removing any links, the lengths would already be slightly different.

For reference, I wear a 16 Love and 15 JUC. Some of my Alhambras have 3-4 links removed and others have 2-3 removed, depending on the bracelet/stone.
It also depends on what kind of fit you are looking for. Some prefer a snug fit so it doesn’t have much movement. Others would rather have some breathing room for the bracelet.

Hope this helps!

Here's a photo posted by a member of resizing sample bracelets by VCA. You can see the actual lengths of having 6 links or 4 links removed. 4 links will give you even number of links between each motifs but it's slightly longer than 6.5".

Wow that’s so interesting regarding the stone size and link differences. Thank you for this!

Thank you. I saw. I think it was 6.75 which would be way too big for me. Thank you for your input!

You're welcome. Not sure if this would help, I find the VCA bracelets to fit more comfortably when it's on the loose side. I have a small wrist 13 cm/5" so I have my 5 motifs shortened by 8 links to 15 cm, which is my preferred length for bracelets. But somehow the 5 motifs fit more snug than my other bracelets because throughout the day the motifs would flip and causing the chain the twist, which making the bracelet fits tighter. Since then I've had my 6 motif shortened to 15.5 cm instead and that 0.5 cm really make a difference in terms of comfort.
