Hello Ladies,

Reposting from my old thread a few weeks ago re: help on choosing a 10 yr anniversary gift.

Thank you so much for all your responses. I truly appreciate it. Especially for those who took time out to send me a pm. So.... what did I end up choosing?

I finally decided on the e-ring upgrade. While I'd love to have a new watch, I loved jewelry more so I decided that the watch can wait.

Special THANK YOU to Ame for helping me choose my diamond. I would not be able to do this without her. Pictures don't do justice to how beautiful the stone is! I was so nervous about the entire process but because I trusted Ame, I knew that I won't be disappointed with the stone (which is what matters the most to me).

So, here you go. Sharing some pics.

Now... I'm wondering if I need a spacer to protect the prongs when I'm wearing them together. Thoughts?

Thanks for letting me share!
Wow. Stunning!!

Is the AGS graded J color white enough for you? How "white" is this color compared to the "near colorless G/H " stones from regular jewelry stores?

Hi Christiflora,

To be honest, I was hesitant to go with a J color. However it was quite challenging to find one with all the "perfect" specs lined up that will fit into the budget. I'm located in Canada, and with the current FX rate, I had to factor in 33-34% difference on top of the USD price. It brings up the price so much more! :( Yes, it sucks but that is the reality of it currently.

Ame told me that J color is still considered colorless/white with some warm tones (typically when viewed from the side). So I agreed to trade color for a better cut and other measurements (which Ame checked for me).

So far, the stone is really sparkly. It might have warmer tones on the side, but it is not noticeable unless you look very closely (which I did when I noticed and understood what Ame meant.)

Whiteflash does have a lifetime upgrade policy so who knows, might be an option in a few years' time. What matters is I'm happy with it. :) Hope this helps.

Ame gave you the best advice. If you have to look for the tint, then the color is white enough for your eyes. In fact, the brightness and sparkles of the top cut will be so distracting that you or others may not readily notice any tint at all.

When your 15 or 20 year anniversary comes, you can upgrade to a larger and/or higher color ACA. Just change the head of your current setting to accommodate the new stone. I suggest that you keep your current Diamond instead of trading it in. Find a matching Diamond to make a pair of sparkling studs. In 5-10 years, the Diamond price will appreciate so much that you will be better off keeping your old Diamond (you will get back only the amount that you paid when you trade in).

For earrings, you can get away with lower color diamonds. In this case, size is more noticeable. Of course, cut is noticeable regardless of the jewelry type, ring or earrings.

I am glad for you. Enjoy your gorgeous ring.
