Whaaatttt!!!! makes me so mad just hearing about it. IMO, your BF really shouldn't let his parents influence the final decision when it comes to YOUR engagement ring! You will be the one wearing it and all that matters is that YOU like it.

3 stone ring!! i have a round brilliant diamond set with two pears on either side.. and tho i love love my ring.. i WOULD just die to have a round diamond on each side!! you seriously experience shrinkage after awhile haha... and a 3 stone would be AMAZING finger coverage!!

Since my BF told me that he ordered it (because his whole plan of "surprising" me in that regards didn't work so well), he's going to pick up the delivery and get it independently appraised and everything taken care of at Tiffany's (including sending the ring to NY). So I don't have any idea of when it's arriving, when it will be sent out and when it will be back from NYC. But I know that when he surprises me with it, it'll be already sized and everything!
I also got part of the clarity wrong in my first post. The ring is an approx. 1.05 ct center I/VVS1 flanked by two .50 ct H/VVS2 (all stones are very, very white), all ex/ex/ex and a total of 2.05 ctw. I did some comparative shopping and a very similar ring at Sam's Club (2.04 ctw, H stones, VVS2-VS2 clarity, 18k wg setting) was $500 more than what we paid!
We purchased the ring from Perrysjewelers.com, but if anyone else is interested in an incredible estate/vintage ring I've also been drooling over at Doversjewelry.com... they have this 4 carat estate Tiffany emerald cut ring that is just insane! Estate Cartier too for the Cartier fans!
I just had my solitare made into a 3 stone ring, about the same specs as yours. I am just under a size 4 and had to be very careful designing because some stones just looked ridiculously large on my finger. I wear it stacked in this order small wg diamond band, small yg wedding band, 3 stone ring, small wg diamond band. I love how the mix looks and know you'll love yours. Can't wait to see pics! congrats!
Funny update!
I work about four blocks from home, so the UPS guy that delivers to my building also delivers to the store where I work. We have a great working relationship, since he knows my name and if I'm at work so he usually just forwards packages directly to me or shares gossip about people in my building.
Today, in front of my co-workers, he came in and was like "You would not believe what I just delivered to your building....wooo! I delivered a ring so expensive I had to get double signature confirmation... you wouldn't believe the insurance on that thing. The girls in the leasing office were all like 'OMIGOD!!!!!!" and Kim nearly tackled me saying 'I KNOW WHO THIS IS FOR.' Someone in your building is gettin' engaged with a NICE ring!!!"
Then I asked, "Dave, was the ring insured for $10,990?" OMG... his face was SO funny. And then I said really excitedly "That's my ring!" and he gave an instant congrats. But my co-workers were all highly amused that I insisted that I wasn't going to know when it was delivered so there will be a mystique as to when my BF pops the question. Now I know it was delivered today!
