Do you buy backups of your fave bags?

I have a confession to make! I do own backups now for 2 of my items lol!

For the first one, the classic caviar black WOC with GHW, I never really intended to get a backup but I had my first one since 2018 which has the older snap closure (I do own other older WOCs with snap closure and that’s totally fine) but I was tempted to replace mine with the newer magnetic closure so I bought one and was planning to sell the old one but then thought why not keep both and then the idea of having it as a backup came to my mind.

Fast forward to today, I just ordered a backup of another item, the small 19 in black goatskin! I love the 19 so much and especially the small in black is super practical. I never even imagined that I’d find an older season goatskin in the boutique but my SA surprisingly had a few! I ordered my first 10 days ago and ordered the 2nd today. My justification this time is that Chanel no longer releases the 19 in goatskin

I know this might sound crazy to many people but it does make me happy and much more comfortable using the bags especially that these 2 styles are my most carefree/practical/every day bags so it does make sense, well atleast to me

On the longer run and as an additional justification, I plan to gift many of my handbags to my daughter so I’m happy to have a nice collection of classic staples to share with her in the near future

Sorry for the long post but felt like sharing my experience/thoughts regarding this topic.

Thank you for reading
Confession too- I also have a backup of the 21A caramel. It wasn’t intentional but after missing out on 21P brown, I couldn’t risk not getting it. So I reached out to 2 SAs for it early on with the intention of passing the second one on to a friend if both SAs came through. Both SAs came through. That friend ended up not wanting it and I ended up keeping both. I didn’t want to resell it since the plates are traceable to the original owner if chanel discovered it. But as a result- I use my first one more comfortably because I know I have a backup.

YG Pave pendant vs Guilloche pendant?

Thanks! I am thinking they go with everything, right? Do you have other VCA?
I posted a family pic in the corresponding thread. I have a small collection: Perlee signature ring, Vintage MOP 5-motif bracelet, Vintage MOP pendant, Vintage onyx earrings, and now Guilloche earrings. I hope to get more! And yes, I find the prices easy to mix and match.

Christmas 2019 chipping? Is this normal?

If you're in the US, you cant bring any items in for a repair inquiry. You have to email repairs. Email is on the website. If you're outside the US, not sure what they're doing, so check your own country's lv site.

As for the actual flaking, I would consider that a normal con for prints, even if you haven't really used it. The way animations, and other lv screen prints + paint, are done, is that the ink/paint is applied over the already treated canvas. LV canvas is pretreated to make it have PVC properties, and paints + ink flake off of plastic whether you use them, or hang them up as wall-art pieces. You can roughen up plastic for better hold, but inks and paints will never actually bond with the plastic. The environment has the greatest effect. Too humid and/or too dry will cause ink + paint to flake off faster. Flexible materials tend to not hold onto unbonded surface inks + paint as well. One year is extremely short lived though, if you don't use the piece often. Most likely the storage conditions weren't optimal, or too much ink/paint was used during the printing process.

LV may offer to fix it, or issue a refund/credit. Just something to keep in mind if you choose to get another animation piece.

Thanks for the advice! I'm in Canada so I just brought it in the local boutique to get it checked out. I've had it for less than a year so it's disappointing to hear about the prints not being long-lasting. This was my first printed piece and it was too cute to pass up!

I have seen older screen print animation where the print fades / or starts to bubble.

I had the venice piece too and was always afraid to use it - but it resold on fashionphile for a great price. The pop of blue interior is so lovely and I like it better than this years animations.

Yes, this Venice print was my favourite of the collection because of the unique blue interior! This year's animations definitely do not really showcase LV's travel luggage history. I find this year's prints too "busy".
LV won't "fix" a screenprinted image.

Unfortunately, these pieces can chip over time, but it does seem like this has happened quite quickly, particularly if it has received light usage.

I would disagree that the prints chip off regardless of whether they're used or displayed. I have several pieces, all of which I've used (albeit with a reasonable amount of care) and they're still in the same condition as new.

OP, do you carry this pochette in a bag with any loose keys or any other items that could have damaged it?

I'd be interested to know if LV deem it defective and offer store credit when you show them it. Good luck!

I just left the store. I sent it in to see if it can be repaired. But the SA did say that it's unlikely. So I'll see how it goes when it comes back!

Lou Camera Bag

Can anyone posts photos and experience if their bags has had dents similar to this? I purchased mine from matches fashion and I saw another girl here who had it severe after 7 months of use and got an exchange from SL directly. However I've only used mine twice since purchasing it in April (even if I used it everyday it's not supposed to look like this after 1 month). And matches fashion is trying to dispute that it's wear & tear.. I'm trying to gather as many evidence as I can that it's a manufacturing fault.
Never had this issue. I have had it bulge at the top but my Marmont does the same. .Those dents look strange and not normal.

Peeling on new Chanel lambskin

Hi! I have an update! I took the bag to Chanel in madrid ( where I bought it) and they said it was unusual to be damaged so soon ( I bought it in mid-Dec and only wore it one day!), so they are going to send the red mini bag to Paris for repair or whatever solution they can provide (maybe replacement?). They said it would take about 2 months (Covid, they said!) to get it back, though the solution would be found probably sooner. They were nice, but WTF, Chanel!!!

Chanel WOC: Old vs. new chain length

Hi!

So as we all know by now, the chain lengths always varied between season and the other on the regular size WOC (I know that for a fact because my 16S silver WOC is shorter than my other ones)..

My question is, does the new style WOC (regular size/magnetic closure) generally has a shorter strap?
I saw a post here by a member where she showed her 19B (magnetic closure) is shorter. So is it a new length for the new updated style or still a seasonal variation?

I hope those who have both can chime in :flowers:

TIA!

My WOC is the regular size magnetic closure from 20A. Its strap is about 2 inches shorter than that of my sister’s classic quilted lambskin with the snap button. Didn’t notice that until I saw your thread & tried to compare them together. FYI

Lady Dior Art Series - How to Access?

You might be able to bring it up to your SA if there are still pieces available. My SA in HK brought it up to me early this year and showed me an iPad with a bunch of the different pieces. Some were already sold out at the time he showed me since they're so limited. Depending on the piece the prices can actually be comparable to the regular Lady Diors. I did not end up buying any since I wasn't interested, so that's about all I know.

Hi, is this Chanel bag worth getting?

I may be in the minority with my opinion. Although I agree that the bag is really pretty and price is great, I think it is a very delicate and high maintenance bag due to color and material. I would not get a lambskin bag in a color that is this light unless you plan to ware it only with very light colored bottoms.

Box leather bracelet for my first H bracelet?

Hi,
I brought a CDC in Box leather back in the early 90's have worn it pretty regularly and obviously washed my hands tens of thousands of times in the years since I brought it-It has only just started to need restitching which I dont put down to increased hand washing but just general ageing and has gone off to spa.
For the first few years the bracelet leather was still pretty stiff (I have another CDC 7 years younger also in Box that I wear less due to the gold HW and thats still pretty stiff) but now its beautifully supple with a really lovely patina.
hope this helps your decision
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I was hoping the bracelet would soften faster for comfort. Good to know they were resilient to water though.
