Formal Event: gown or dinner suit?

As a lover of women's suiting in general, I think an all-white suit is stunning. 
I love strutting around in a white suit. It feels so crisp and and sharp!
Most people don't wear all white, and it definitely is an eye-catching outfit. Since it is so clean, you can definitely accessorize and have fun with your jewelry/bag/shoes, etc.
Talking only about suiting, if you want to go black or white for a formal event I think either will work. With black, like others have said, try not to go too classic with the designs and cuts so that you don't appear to be a waiter or staff employee.
I love Alexander McQueen and YSL suiting.
Don't get me wrong. I love a red carpet dress. But I just feel more comfortable in a suit with trousers.
And I agree, it's a little hard to re-wear dresses to multiple events. But you can still use the suit separates in various outfits and dress them up or down.

Those look like mold measles to me.. basically marks left behind by mold. You might want to try to asking in the Coach rescue and rehab club, they may be able to give you better advice

Hermes Iridescent Hermes leather color
I find chevre has an iridescence qualityThe closest example of true iridescence I can think of would be the remarkable leucistic/albino crocodile Kelly, though this was a one-off, runway piece. Absolutely insane piece. The next closest example would be the faux-iridescent ‘Cosmos’ collection, but that was only available for HAC.
Besides those examples, generally speaking, the iridescent qualities of bags are influenced more by the type of leather than by the colour. Certain leathers, such as Swift, Gulliver, and Lissé exotics, do have an iridescent quality. A prime example of this would be Vert Émeraude Crocodile Lissé and Gator Lissé; if you haven't encountered that combination yet, I would highly recommend looking it up— it’s spectacular.
On a slightly related note, metallic options have been produced for Chèvre in Bronze, Silver, and Gold. While not quite iridescent, they do possess a similar allure.
Forgot to mention this: A very small number of bags produced in the early aughts featured treated crocodile skin that exhibited a subtle pearlescent/AB effect. I have only seen two or three on the resale market ever.
By the by, I’ve never associated Étain with iridescence, perhaps this is more of a subjective thing, but if you do choose Étain, I would opt for Swift leather so you get that very slight natural iridescence from the leather.
