Gucci Matellase Marmont Top Handle

Hi!
Been painstakingly looking for reviews on this bag, but cannot find any.
I want to know how it holds up, is it practical? Is it worth the splurge?
I'm about to get one in dusty pink.
This is the one with the blue/red/white crossbody strap.
I read the whole thread on the marmont bag, but I did not even see a mention on this bag.
I was wondering why it's not popular or even mentioned. Any reason why? Should I opt not to get this?
I can't even find reviews on Youtube or the internet. I find this weird/off-putting.

TIA for your help.

Chanel Clutch with Chain and WOC

Not exactly sure where to post this thread, but wanted to share.

So I bought this Clutch with Chain (didn't even know the name of it) circa 2004-2005? And it's basically a black lambskin, old fashioned lady's bag with a thin Chanel chain. I loved it to death because it's so cute so it remained in my collection despite lack of use.

Now mini bags are in again. I got the WOC in 22k Dark Pink because I don't have a fuchsia colored Chanel item and this is a simple way to re-enter the Chanel world.

Here are side by side comparisons.

Also I've enclosed what's on Chanel website for the 2023 collection. Finally, I found something remotely looking like my black tiny clutch. What I'm trying to say is Chanel is digging into its archives for "new" ideas. And around 20 years is a cycle. So don't throw anything out!

PS: My next WOC will be in blue (if I can find it first).

Moynat ruban tote MM

Has anybody have issues with this specific bag? I honestly love the bag because of its structure and the style however, recently i came across some problems with it’s stitching. While using it regularly, i have noticed that the stitching started to come off which is something that i didnt completely expect. To be honest, I recently got a replacement for the second time and guess what, after only using it for less than a week, the stitching is coming off again. I personally have never come across a luxury bag as tacky as this. I have a goyard bag st louis and tbh, it stands the test of time and i have used it with the same exact belonging as what i put in my moynat and never had any problems at all. I am thinking contacting Moynat to put another complaint but i dont even know if they would just replace it with an exact same bag again that would have issues with the stitching. Tbh, They have been extremely helpful however i was obviously let down by the quality of their bags. Any suggestions on what to do? Let me know. Thanks!

Decision help!

I figured that I would get some good Coach Lovers’ advice by posting this here. I recently started dabbling in YSL and really love the edgy yet chic look. I will always be a coach lover but considering selling a few bags to score this like-new preloved YSL backpack. I’d probably have to sell my Pillow Madison in black and my Parker Backpack in size 18. I love both of them butttt I’d consider parting ways for a gorgeous YSL backpack. I welcome your feedback! Here are the 2 backpacks in question. Oh and the YSL is bigger which is a plus since I need it as a daily baby bag.

Hi everyone!

Hoping to finally get my hands on my very first VCA necklace - I'm definitely thinking of the Vintage Alhambra but is a bit torn on whether to go with the Mother of Pearl or the Tiger Eye?

I'd also consider the price difference. Tiger Eye is +$350 more than the Mother of Pearl.

Let me know what you all think .

Used Love and Panthere quality difference between now and vintage

Hi!
I was looking at Cartier rings and bracelets on the website The RealReal, and so many of them clearly had gold plating that had worn off and a base metal showing, especially on the Love line. I was shocked, as I had thought that Cartier did not have "plating" but was solid gold. But clearly, a lot of these have a brass base or something because, especially in the white gold versions, you can see the metal underneath (as in the screenshot below).

I've read that they don't do this anymore, but does anyone have any authoritative info on this?

Regarding the Panthere watches, the originals back in the 80s and 90s, had hollow gold links. The ones made now have solid gold links. This is info I got from three different sources, one from a jeweler on youtube (granted, not a strong source but as it turns out, he was correct), one from a local authorized Cartier watch dealer, and one from a Cartier Boutique SA.

While I'm glad that Cartier stepped up its game in both cases, it does make me wary of buying older pieces, and it really makes me wonder why vintage pieces have almost the same value as newer ones when there's such a huge difference in quality.

The fact that they ever chose to skimp on quality also makes me trust them less now with things like the "gold" perfume case I would like to buy. The website doesn't say what it's made of so I can only assume something cheap or wouldn't they say what it is? I'm afraid to buy it because I feel like I can't trust the quality, which makes me sad since Cartier is supposed to represent the highest quality.

Anyone have any information or thoughts on this?

Thanks

What jewelry superstitions do you believe?

Hi! Just curious what jewelry superstitions people believe? Or maybe not quite believe, but are kind of too afraid to not follow.

I'm not a superstitious person, but it's funny how even though you KNOW something is stupid to believe, and you don't really believe it, there's still a little piece of your brain that's cowering in the corner warning you to be careful.

My irrational superstition is with pearls. I've always heard that they are bad luck because they represent the sorrow of the animal that created the pearl from having an irritant in its body. I looked online to see if anyone else says this and found a ton of conflicting information. I read that different people say pearls are bad luck in different situations:
a. If you buy the pearls yourself.
b. If someone else buys the pearls for you.
c. If you receive or wear pearls on your wedding day.
d. If your spouse gives you pearls (at any time).
e. Pearls are bad luck period.

Opals also have a lot of "bad vibes" associated with them, but I read online that the diamond industry started the rumor that opals were bad luck because opal mines were cutting into their profits. I have no idea if that's true.

Another one is that it is bad luck to use a wedding ring or gem that was previously used in a marriage that failed. I've also heard that the gem itself is fine, but you have to reset it in a different ring to banish the bad juju.

I've heard that malachite can hold onto negativity and bring out your bad side, but that's different than a superstition, as that's starting to get into crystal magic belief, which is different from the superstitions I'm asking about here.

What do you all think about different superstitions? Do you think pearls are bad luck? What other superstitions do you know about related to jewelry?

Thanks!

Anyone has a love bracelet with diamonds please come in

Cartier lovers, I’m planning to purchase another love bracelet with diamonds for stacking, but I’m a little worried about the diamonds “secure thing”. Does anyone have any issues on diamonds loosing or dropping down? Just wanted to consider the pros and cons before making the decision. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts

Storing your Chanel bags safely out of view

Hello Chanel lovers! Does anyone have a good way to store your Chanel/luxury bag collection safely and out of view? I currently have them displayed in the IKEA billy bookcase with glass doors in the bedroom. They are beautiful to look at but I prefer to have them not so visible and maybe locked as well. I do not want them in the walk in closet since the closet is attached to the master bathroom. I was looking for some kind of bookcase/wardrobe with wooden doors that comes with a lock or just be able to install a lock. I store them completely out of sight when traveling. However, on a day to day basis, I prefer them to be not so visible when I go to work or when people are over. Thank you!

Spilled water in my empreinte leather Neverfull!

I just want to report an incident I had, didnt find much info when I searched myself so this might help someone else.

I managed to put an almost full water bottle (0.5 L) in my empreinte leather cognac Neverfull with the lid only half screwed on...of course it spilled out, drenching the bottom part of the bag from within. Luckily I noticed quite shortly thereafter, maybe 5-10 minutes or so (went from my car to hotel room). I emptied the stuff inside (had, among other stuff, Dior wallet and LV keyholder, colud more or less just brush the water off them) and poured water out. Tried to dry the microfiber inside as best I could, and then hung up the bag to hopefully dry out. Returning to my hotel room 3 hours or so later, I noticed to my absolute HORROR that on one side of the bottom third of the bag the leather was considerably darker/without luster and greyish, and also quite swollen, like a very noticably ridge compared to the rest of the bag. Similar underneath, and also a bit on the other side. It looked the same a few hours later and I was so heartbroken. I figured the leather had sucked up water from the inside and this was the result. (In desperation I tired to blow dry the inside a bit, however this didn't seem to make any difference and I have read afterwards that this is NOT recommended)

But - lo and behold - the next day all discolouring had disappeared, and the swelling too! A discrete vein can be seen where the "water line" was, but it is only noticable because I know it was there (I can se similar discrete veins higher up on the bag too, so it actually looks just like natural variation). T

So, all in all - empreinte leather seems to be able to actually manage this kind of mishap, at least it did this one time. So if it happens to you, dry it out and give it some time. Of course the best thing is to not carry fluids XD, but alas, life happens.

Unfortunately didn't take any pics of my discoloured bag but trust me, it looked horrible...

Hi everyone! I’m wanting to add a Chanel 22 to my collection as an everyday bag. I have been using my Celine belt bag in a grey/blue color, but I definitely need to give her a break! This is what I currently have in my collection:

Chanel Caramel Mini
Chanel Large Black Heart
Chanel 19 “So Black”
Celine Nano Belt Bag in a blue/grey color
Palm Springs Mini in Monogram (trying to sell this one!)

I am debating between getting a fun color like bubblegum pink, or just getting black and gold hardware so I can reach for the bag more easier. What do you all think?

Please help! Need advice before I sell my Hammered YG 10 motif

I have decided to sell my Alhambra 10 motif YG. I purchased the necklace in 2018 and wore it a handful if times. The necklace went into my safe when Covid started and it’s been in there until recently. Although the necklace is beautiful, I just don’t wear it. I find I’m more of a pendant person as it is more comfortable for me. When I purchased the necklace VCA extended it to 20”. The motifs are evenly spaced. I’ve worn the necklace at 20”, I‘ve clasped the back to have 1 motif or 2 motif hanging in order for different lengths. All lengths look great. My question??? Should I have VCA remove the extra links and have necklace put back to the original length before selling it? If I sell it at 20” would the buyer be able to have VCA adjust it? I have receipt, certificate, boxes (NY 5th Ave special black box) and travel pouch. I’ve never sold anything before, however, I know I need to start with the length of the necklace first. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Different shades of yellow gold for vintage alhambra hammered gold

Hello! I recently purchased the vintage alhambra 5 motif bracelet in hammered gold and yellow gold to match with my 2 yr old vintage alhambra pendant in hammered gold and yellow gold. I noticed that my pendant is more yellow gold (more towards my liking) whereas the new bracelet has a lighter shade of yellow gold.

Is that expected? I asked my SA and he said it is due to the different combination of elements to make the yellow gold, hence making the jewellery truly handcrafted, etc. Another SA mentioned it is because my necklace has oxidised hence making it more yellow in nature.

Anyone else have the same experience as me?
