Quality Issues - VCA

Fortunately I haven’t had too many issues with quality at time of purchase, but I’ve had a lot of trouble with repairs/engraving!! It started with a holiday pendant that got sent out for engraving and came back with the wrong size initials. Then more recently, I snapped the post on a pair of vintage Alhambra earrings (my own fault for being too rough) and when I got them back from the workshop they’d been repaired with a shorter post that didn’t match and was angled funny. I sent them back for repair, and the post issue was fixed, but the part at the bottom that the lever back attaches to (not sure what it’s called) was bent a little. At this point I decided they couldn’t handle another trip to the workshop so I just bought another pair—it had been a year and I was tired of not having them in my wardrobe. I snapped the post on another pair of earrings by fiddling with them because I apparently cannot be trusted to learn my lesson the first time (and also didn’t want to have to send them to the workshop for adjustment) and I am DREADING sending them off for repair—I’m thinking of just buying another pair of those too.

Hi not sure if this thread is still active but I have a carnealian necklace with what looks like a defect on the pendant frame or perlees. Some please take a look and lmk your thoughts. I was suspicious that the item was a fake but I called the store it was purchased from and had them look up the serial number and it check out. I’ve also had it authenticated with several authentication websites and it came back authenticate. But I’ve never seen such a defect before??? Any thoughts? Similar cases?View attachment 5997318
Is the issue/difference that the top/carnelian necklace's spacing between the top and bottom perlees look wider than the real necklace? Or, not sure if lighting, but it seems like there are only 2 perlees vs the bottom necklace has 3 between where the necklaces joins the pendant?

Why don't you invest in Cartier earrings? Those are better quality

Lol I actually am gravitating a bit more towards Cartier these days but I think I’m still a Van Cleef girl at heart. I have the vintage Alhambra earrings in a variety of stones/styles and they’re my absolute favorites that I wear every single day—they seem to go with everything. My Cartier SA is a sweetheart so I’d love to buy more from him but I just haven’t found any Cartier earrings I like!

I'll just give you the most recent example although I have seen quite a few. The back of the HP has a scratch. It was covered by the blue sticker so it was not visible before removing the sticker which they usually don't allow you to do unless you buy it.. most people including me would not expect a scratch underneath the blue protector so beware. The SA said it cannot be fixed so I didn't buy it.View attachment 5239604
That's really weird. Why didn't they offer to buff it out?

Agree with you. Too many VCA earrings on my wishlist but the only Cartier earrings that I MAYBE want are the Clash hoop earrings.

I have a problem with the resizing of my 5 motif Guilloche bracelet. I bought the bracelet last year in Paris and they resized it and sent it to me. The space between the motifs is not symmetrical. My other 5 motif white MOP bracelet that I bought and got resized by VCA in my home country is symmetrical.
So I told my SA in Paris and went back this year to get it fixed but then they told me that they can't change it and that the the other symmetrical bracelet is wrong :confused1:
What should I do now? I like the symmetrical one more and it bothers me.

There are 7 links between the first 4 motifs and then 9 links:

Was there a specific length that had to be achieved?

Just drop it off at your local boutique to get it resized/fixed, no need to go through your Paris SA. I've had VCA purchased from Paris & Japan to be serviced in the US boutiques/NY workshop, never had an issue.

Yes, I‘m going to do that. The store is a 3h drive away. My SA in Paris told me that I should bring it back to her the next time I’m going to Paris and they’ll change it. That was not the case unfortunately so I‘m a little disappointed with the customer service tbh.

I also had issues with earring post repair. I had it loosen a bit and had it changed to longer post. Came back too loose, repair specialist told me that’s all they could do but I had them send it out again, needless to say it went back to repair 3 times after that. Unfortunately it’s still not right but I’m not going to sent it back because after time it comes back, there’s additional issues.
