Picked up the new style Vernis Key / Coin Pouch ... and am disappointed.

I much prefer it without the name plate. I never bought one because I actually didn't like the name plate. Even though I have a Eva and Thames with the plates on them, I much rather them not.

I guess my 19 looks like 90. :amuse:
No it just makes them look nasty!!! I am neither old or bitter! I am sure you are not either! I have stated a couple of times my strong dislike for DE and get rude comments all the time. I don't understand why you can't express your opinions here! To each his own. I won't buy one without the plaque and that's that!

Happy Birthday!!!!

I agree also. It looks plain without the plate! It's a shame LV is trying to save money - taking away metal plates and shimmer - and then raising the prices over the years.I'm not saying they shouldn't make a profit but I think it's a bit ridiculous. The main reason I bought my pomme accessories years ago was due to the shimmery color. It wouldn't be the same if it was "flat".
Same here. I adore the sparkle of pomme and have a wallet, Cles and key holder as well as a Rosewood. The magenta reminded me of it and i grabbed a Brea and Cles (with the plate I might add) in it. I'm on the lookout for more appealing Blueberry vernis pieces but having the Alma BB in Blueberry Epi and the hot pink Epi zippy I doubt I'll be getting much more.

I like it still without the plate Are you saying the magenta does have metallic flakes? I am trying to decide between blueberry and magenta. I like the light pink too but doubt it's as sparkly. It's so hard when they change something you love and count on collecting.

I'm such a vernis SLG collector too! I have pomme, amarante, rose pop, Noir Magnetique, Bleu Galactic, Cerise, Indigo (I believe that's the name), Rose Indiennes (another colour that would be so much better with sparkle), Magenta and Blueberry now and while I was super excited about the hot pink, seeing how flat it was with no sparkle saved me $500 as rose pop is IMO so much more lovely.

Yes the magenta is very shimmery but the hot pink is not. Here is some of my magenta vernis. Cles are top to bottom Cerise, Blueberry and magenta. I wish the Blueberry had more sparkle too, but the colour is breathtaking. The same colour as my car actually, and I'll probably end up owning every piece they release in it. Like my car, the purple in certain lights is so gorgeous! I have a rainbow of vernis colours and loved them all equally (with rose pop and pomme being probably my favourites) before Blueberry and Magenta came out.

Then I acquired a Bleu Galactic Ludlow for $60 on eBay and fell in love with it... but when Magenta and then Blueberry came out they stole my heart and I utterly adore them even more than my beloved pomme and rose pop! I was never able to get ahold of the Galet they released with Cerise sadly, and am going to sell my Cerise because it seems so plain without shimmer. Teal is my ultimate favourite colour along with metallic cobalt and I was desperate to find a lagoon piece until I learned it had no shimmer! The sparkle really makes the vernis sing to me.

I wouldn't assume they removed the plate to cut corners. Perhaps they wanted to update its look and make a cleaner version.
I cant think of any other reason to do it, as removing the plate, rivets and additional vernis trim piece behind and along the top edge would significantly reduce costs and make the Cles quicker to produce in more quantity. The version with the plate was almost universally adored upon release and there would be no reason to reinvent the wheel so to speak were it not to save costs which may be why they haven't updated the Monogram versions though many think they should, myself included, especially because of the size and limitations of the small models.

They must have had focus groups (they'd be fools not to), comprised of a majority of people who, like the majority of people commenting here, preferred the Cles with the plate, and by a pretty large margin. I remember when the small plaque was introduced on different pieces it was very well received and really adds to pieces like the Monogram Eva and Cles IMHO and as I see I'm not alone in declining to buy/returning the new design, and my SA said the feedback about the plate and rivet removal (and lack of shinmer) has been overwhelmingly negative. It'll be interesting to see if the amount of money they lose in sales negates what they have saved by making these changes.

Just my .02 as all of us have our own taste and I respect that... but I don't believe the removal of those pieces makes the Cles look more streamlined or more elegant. Simpler yes but now it isn't something I will carry alone like I do the previous models which I often clipped outside a bag or to my belt loops because they were just so pretty and classy. To me, now it just took away some of the class and individuality... it looks like any other brand's coin purse; like something is missing and it is just two pieces of material sewn together with a zipper and clasp. it most certainly doesn't warrant the $400 price tag now IMHO. :tongue: :nonono;

It has to cost less without the plate and extra piece of leather. I don't like it either, but I just accepted it after the first person posted about it months ago and so I decided not to buy a new one. But who knows, maybe they'll bring it back if enough people complain.

I bought the vernis cles on the website thinking there was going to be a plate, but when I picked up my order at the store I was bummed there was no plate. I asked the sales associate and she said that maybe they removed the plate due to faulty design issues, However I am a little skeptical about that... Anyways I ended up keeping it since I bought it more for the color rose ballerine rather than for the name plate, and I am pretty happy with the quality of this item. No color transfer and very durable leather. Maybe if the name plate were there, I might have been worried about scratches. This way I don't feel I have to baby it so much.
