JPG soon to be discontinued....

mhmm have not heard of it and somehow i do not know what to think as i know for sure i have 2 pending orders for feb that already have been confirmed.
the thing why i doubt it is why should they stop it when JPG is still head of the design team that would be highly offensive and furthermore the jpg is still selling so there is no need and since hermès`never was an it bag company i do not think they stop producing a new bag only after a couple of seasons . but maybe they stop producing them "for display" and start to only do them per request?

My order for my JPG shoulder Birkin is also confirmed, lilach. I have been looking forward to it, and expect it to be here before Xmas! But this rumour is unnerving me, not that it should since I love the style so much.
GF, at the risk of becoming a target myself, I have to second your opinion on this. . you're not the only one! . . . it's not that I think the JPG is ugly or anything (now, the Himalaya, that's another story
), but I just have certain ideas about altering a classic. . . no offense to all you lovely ladies who love your bags! just not for me. . .well even the now classic birkin is nothing more than an altered classic too
only time can tell if a bag becomes classic or not and yes i do remember the screams and oinks when the birkin first appeared (for some it was a blasphemy towards the HAC)

I spoke with the manager of the Boston boutique yesterday and he said that corporate has no immediate plans to discontinue the JPG, but he also said that they strongly feel that the "rumor" has likely been circulated to boost resale prices of JPGs.
I told him that I was shocked -- SHOCKED, I say -- that such rumors would be circulated for those reasons!! :dots:

Oh good, I was waiting for a response from Lilach on this one. That's very interesting about the rumor concerning resale of JPGs. That would make sense since they do seem to "sit" longer than regular Birkins.
Hi there I agree with GF in a way. . I mean I used to tell my SA's not to even call me if they got a JPG Birkin, that I thought it was the worse thoughtof Birkin there was! That it's bottom was too wide and stiff to be worn comfortable under the arm. I think it's too big for most people.. I and thought they should make it at least in another "more manageable" size ( 43 cm is a big big..) and I had heard rumors ( fromt eh SAs) that they were working on a 35 cm JPG... . anyway the "idea" of the bag was nice.. a Birkin one could wear on their shoulder..

I agree with Lilach too , I had my mom call her local SA who also said that the JPG orders they have in for spring / summer are all confrimed and that as far as they know, there are no plans to discontinue it.
So, I called Back SA # 1, the one who told me the info in the first place, and she said it's nothing official, that her manager had been told this at the last Podium meeting.
So, girls, I don't know for sure what's up...just what the SAs say, just that now, this bag which I never "liked"... I suddenly am seeing in a different light... :shame: Have you all see that Mika lady's blog? This is this Japanese woman who loves to post pictures of herself with every Hermes bag she gets her hands on.. and, though I may not admire her hair and makeup..:shame: I must say, she's kind of cute, the way she poses, and it's SUPER informative to see what sizes and colors look like on. I know the PF refers to her blog in "Having trouble with website" Thread and also an older "Should I go to Japan" thread. Sorry.. don't kow how to link / paste threads.. so I just wrote them.
Anyway- if anyone hears anymore on the JPG subject please post.. It'll be interesteing to see what they do. And re: another post about JPG himself.. I heard they are very happpy with him as the designer so i don't think that'll change.. and the TRW is diine and those platforms out this seaon are HOT!

If they make a 35cm JPG Birkin, that'll be another one to add to my to-get list ... Actually, one of my SAs are trying to get me to buy the Paris-Bombay GM, citing that it's a good replacement for JPG. I declined.

There are three sizes: GM, MM, and PM. My SA kept telling me that if I want a JPG, I should just get the Paris-Bombay GM and try to lobby for an ostrich one. At that point she said that she can't promise anything because I can't order anything except for small leather goods.
Got your PM, I've tried that idea before when i was hunting for my Bolide but the person on the 800# just told me to call the store manually because he was "unable to do a system wide search"

As for shrinkwrap, my ex-SA has let me see one in shrinkwrap before but it wasn't the bag that I was looking for.The thing with shrinkwrap is that I am NOT going to leave the store with the box in shrinkwrap. I just mean that I would like to be the one to unwrap it in front of the SA. Anyways, Paris-Bombay is cute but it's not the same thing as JPG ...
I was planning on ordering a BJ one at the Feb podium!! I guess this will help confirm if they are continuing next year....
