Has anyone heard of Via Republica bags?

Hello I'm new here and I've just purchased this bag from Nordstrom:

I love the look of this bag with that latch closure on the drawstring that is appearing on many styles now! As much as I love it, I am disappointed that it's quite a lightweight leather bag and the leather feels distressed, not smooth. It makes me think it won't last very long!
Nevertheless, it's the perfect size for me (not the large luggage size pieces that celebs are hauling) and I'll enjoy it!
Since this thread has been resurrected, I thought I'd give an update: One of the rivets on one of the straps popped off
and the strap swung free! Good thing there were TWO straps! Anyway, I still liked the bag, so I just tied the strap back on to the ring, which isn't as awkward-looking as it sounds. I unfortunately didn't feel secure about carrying the bag around anymore, so I stopped using it. I no longer like the quality of this brand. Just my experience 
I think they are great. I have one in silver and it looks fab but I don't use it all so think its time to sell it on. Its one of the big squashy ones and would look perfect in the summer.
I bought this Via Republica bag today at Nordstrom in purple leather. I love the hardware and the two front/side pockets. The leather seems like very good quality, I hope I'm not disappointed. I'm a little bit of a bag snob so I had to convince myself it was ok to buy this unknown brand.
